Default Fulltime

So just a question thats made me curious....

how many people on dps do photography on a full-time basis (ie. making money, own a business etc.) vs. people who do it as a side job?

I just do it as a hobby albit a very serious hobby. I make way way WAY more with my businesses than I could ever make as a photographer. Well unless I get to the level of Joe McNally and company.

Same here. My career is first and foremost. This comes second as a freelancer.

you guys must make some nice cash then. if i could land one decent gig a month id trade that over the "career" i have going right now. id probably make more like that or at least even it out.

not saying i dont like what im doing right now - just that i WISH i could make the same decent living off what i LOVE to do (aka photography)

I think the assumption that I don't do photography full time is because I don't love my current career? Not even close.

I do make good money, not great, but good steady and reliable income. I didn't go to school for 6 years to not do my job. Photography for me is about side income, being artsy fartsy and a general snobbish A-hole. *chuckle*

lol @ general snobbish a-hole

in any case, sorry didnt mean for it to come off offensive.

i guess everyone has different situations. mostly because photography is a hobby for alot ofpeople. i just discovered something in me that wants to go further with this. im kind of stuck in my current "Career" and dont have much chance to grow. photography is giving me that challenge when i look at it from a fulltime business perspective....but i still have lots to learn. im just getting ahead of myself waaaaayyy too soon

I own several restaurants. I enjoy the restaurant business because I get to meet with a lot of people. And here in Cozumel I get to meet with a lot of people from all over the world. It is pretty nice. Also the view down here in the Caribbean is not too shabby.

As for how much I make.. well lets say that I dont miss any meals.

Photography is my full time one and only source of income.

Maybe this should be a poll?
