Default Define non-pro camera

The Mile High Music Festival is coming up in a few weeks.

Permitted: Non-pro cameras (disposable, film, digital)

Think they will let me in with my D40? I'm not a pro I promise!

The D40 is considered an entry level DSLR...one more step up and you get to pro-sumer level, and then finally up to pro level cameras. Most people would have to agree that a D40 is not considered a pro camera, but it's all in the interpretation, and unfortunately, it'll be their interpretation on whether it is, or it is not.

I would try to find out from them what they consider a pro camera. You wouldn't want to get there and have to take your camera back to the car if they decide it's pro enough. I've heard (mind you, this isn't personal experience) that some places say it's "pro" if you can change lenses, while other places are much more lenient. So I'd go back to saying: check if you can.

You should call whomever that's putting on the venue and check with them. According to Live Nation, (who I have to go through all the time to get press passes) if you can change lenses you won't be able to get it in.

I agree with everyone else...try to find out before hand what the definition is. More than a few times, I have been told what Jim has said...if it's capable of changing lenses, it's considered "pro" and not allowed.

That is a hard one. While I would not consider a D40 a pro camera, people that know nothing might. Further if you slap something like a 70-300VR lens on it they may say its a pro camera, while if you went with a D300 and a 50mm lens they might let you in. There is just no rhyme or reason at many venues. Get the details ahead of time -- many time they consider soly the length of the lens.

hahahahaha, the requirement is to have your camera, two to four months, shoot on P or Auto only, then turn pro

Thats right, tell them you just got it and still can only shoot on auto!

But seriously I have been told about the same as everyone else, if you can change the lens then no.
