Default What about the TLR then :D

Hmmm what about the Rolleiflex TLR then? (twin lens reflexes) (or the seagull?)
It could change lens!!!

Seriously tho.. Good luck with the D40.. i dont' think they will let u in ... during the Olympic, few of my friend here in Shanghai went to the soccer match, and was told that no tripod, no monopod, no "pro" camera (and since it's a soccer match.. good luck with the super zoom... without tripod/monopod!)
not exactly what was the defination of pro camera there tho...

I usually check the website or email them. If you can print out the email - you have something to show security. Although, reading through the thread someone found that it was specific - I hate when they aren't specific!

I went to Yankee stadium Friday and they said "no large purses". Well, wtf is a large purse? That is pretty darned subjective! If they put specific dimensions I could figure out which camera bag I could take in. I ended up taking smaller one than I needed to because my sister-in-law was able to take in her huge purse. My larger camera bag is still smaller than that. I don't know why they have to make it so hard!

I like Camden Yards (Orioles) because their policy is that you can take photos however you like as long as it doesn't bother those around you. While this means that some jerk could ruin your time there, as long as your lens isn't so long it knocks into the back of the head of the guy in front of you you, you're good.

Yay for w/e NBA stadium specifically stated no lens larger than 70mm.

I really don't understand everyone's problems with photos. If I take some awesome photo of a baseball player or a singer and post it online - it should only increase people's excitement to attend that event. Plus, what if you're on vacation somewhere, taking photos and you don't have time to get back to the hotel to put your camera away?

I'd use his head as a support for that 400 f/2.8

Even if most of us know a D40 is an entry level dslr, most security personnel and organizers see the dslr a camera of the pro. It is their affair and it is definitely their definition that matters. Why not ask a special pass for the D40 before the festival? If that doesn't work, just bring a point and shoot camera and shoot like a pro.

Actually, you're probably better off not taking a chance. They don't know anything (unless by some chance the bouncer is also a photographer). Anything that looks vaguely like an SLR will probably be considered professional.

If ever you come to the Philippines (where I am from), you'll find bouncers at concerts who won't let you in because your camera has "focus" (the one standing in front of me got his camera confiscated). I seriously had a good laugh with my friend in the David Cook concert here thanks to that line. So now, realizing the naive-ness of the security personel, I don't think you'd want to risk it

I was at a concert at Wembley on Sunday and I saw plenty of DSLRs there....with HUGE lenses.

I agree with CanonMaidenS5 about the pivotal LCD thingy...however, it really depends on the band and the promoters. I've been onstage as a guest for NIN and from what I saw in the crowd there were plenty of DSLRs. None of security, or the Comcast center employees batted an eye. It was anything goes. Same place same venue for Evanescence and they practically strip searched me for a hidden micro cam... but 10,000 cell phone flashes are alright... go figure ;O) Peace David.
