$40+S&H for a bean bag with a hard top and a bolt in it... Geez, that's money well spent...

Not a chance. Not only becuase their website is flash and therefore I can't view it on the computer. It just looks crap, I do use a bean bag sometimes as its a great way to steady the camera when you don't have a tripod but this thing looks over priced and less use than a simple bean bag.

Only a problem if it turns out that stompinthom only posts to say nice things about these "Pod" beanbags. Otherwise (s)he could just be a satisfied customer even if the overall mood is sceptical.

I don't think I'd ever use a pod, though I might use a bean bag if I would ever stop procrastinating and make one.

I mostly use it as a support as if holds angles very well on whatever surface is around. I highly recommend them.
I'll give you a dollar to see you attach your D80 and 70-300 lens, fully extended, to the pod and put it in the railing of the iron gate they show on the site and walk away.

I do like my pod and if $20 is too much for you to spend then that is fine too.
Attached are two photos of my camera with the 70-300 lens fully extended sitting on the back of a chair with just the green pod holding it in place? You owe me a dollar
BTW...I generally use it as a brace and it was awesome when we went to Europe this past summer and took amazing photos in dark churches and other places where tripods are NOT allowed.

Default Also...

Since the original questions was...
Has anyone used one of this? Are they any good?
Seems that I am the only one who has actually tried it!!!
HMMMMMM....
I stand by my original position that YES, they are good.

But you can appreciate why we are a bit suspicious of you? Your only 3 posts have been about this product and you signed up at the time a link to the site advertising the product was posted.

I'm sure that suspicion will go away when you interact more with the site as a whole but at the moment the suspicion is justified. If our suspicions are indeed true and you are somehow involved with the product it may be wise to come clean.

Wow! Lot of strong oppinions on this one. LOL

The main reason I was asking is because two weeks ago I was staying at a hotel near downtown Disney in Orlando, Fl. I spend almost 1/2 hour trying different things I found in my room to use as a tripod, so I could take some pictures of the fireworks display from the Disney parks. I've read somewhtere that if you unscrew the lamp shades from a stand up lamps, you can use it as tripos because the screw is the same size as the tripod hole in your camera. Well in my case the lamps in my hotel room were not conventional, so I couldn't use them.

I ended up puttin a chair on top of a table, then a waste basket on top of the chair. The result were not good because the camera was not leveled. So I figured something like this could be useful in situations like the one I was.
