Try Dave Hobby's Strobists 101.Strobist or Joe MaNally's blog. Both are leaders in the field when it comes to using speedlights.

Default Spot metering?!

This may be a very simple question.. but.

What the hell is spot metering?

A straight forward guide would be ace.
