Default Website question???

Is there any photo hosting sites that allows people to view but NOT allow them right click to save photos to their computers? I found Pictage and like the way they are set up, but I am not ready to buy a subscription yet.

You can do this with Flickr.
Once you set up your accountm you got to "Privacy and Permissions" tab and the first option says "who can download your stuff."
In that option you select "Only You."

It puts a transparent GIF file over your images, so if someone tries to right-click and save, they will just get the invisible GIF, and not your shot.

Of course they can still take a screen shot, but that's about it.

With any uploading site, it's also a good idea to only upload low-resolution jpg's at screen resolution so even if they get taken, there isn't much that can be done with them.

Thanks for the information about privacy and permissions. I set mine to not allow downloads.

Also, I agree about loading low res files. I convert files to about 6x4 and 72dpi resolution before uploading. Of course, I didn't do this in the beginning so I still have some high res photos in my Flickr collection.

The right click is only one way to save though. It is worth noting that just to view an image it will be downloaded onto peoples computers, if people want to find the file they can. Easily. The only sure fire way to make sure nobody has access to your pics is to keep them away from the internet.

If you are worried about the high res versions, you can (with a pro account) replace those photos with any other ones that you want -- such as a low-res version. If you have a pro account, that could help you a bit.

But as others have said -- there is always a way to download photos. I just try to ensure that they're not too good quality -- low quality prints at best.

Yes - if you can see it on your screen, it really isn't too hard to take a screenshot (even from a Flash-based website). If you want to protect your work, don't put it up on the Internet (best security) or put up smaller versions (a reasonable compromise).

Anything on the screen can be saved using the 'Print Screen' button on your keyboard.

Other than that the other option is to use a watermark
