Preparing an image to print?

I'm finishing up on some senior portraits for a friend's brother and I was wondering if any of you folks out there do anything special to prepare images to print? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

This is probably really obvious to everyone else, but make sure you get a border round it if you are going to get it framed to allow for the mount. I didn't recently and had to get it reprinted, doh!

Apply a light unsharp mask -- it's the bane of using digital cameras!
