Talking Just sharing some excitement...

Hey photogs,

I am a self taught 21 year old photographer wanting to go into photojournalism and specifically sports photography after graduation from college next year. I applied to work at the Charlotte Observer as a photojournalist intern for this summer and I received word friday that....I got the position!!!!

I'm probably in WAYYYYYYYY over my head but this is what I want to do with my life, and I'm motivated to do it and I'm gonna work my *** off to prove I deserve the job and maybe a future position at the paper.

Just sharing the good news!

Jamey

Congratulations. That is sooo cool.
The time you spend with the Charlotte Observer will give you a taste of how it all really works as a job.
Sounds like your enthusiasm will make up for any "over the head".
Have fun!!

good for you. I remember my first internship with the Louisville Courrier Journal back in 1972 like it was only yesterday.

THANKS EVERYONE! Moral of the story for those aspiring, you don't HAVE to have an education in photography to be a photographer. Hard work pays off in the long run.

I'll keep you updated. Im sad I wont be back from school and starting the "job" before the PGA Golf Tournament in Charlotte because they said they would have had me shoot it

And.......Having a camera doesn't make you a good photographer. You do have to be able to know how to use it. You also have to have a good eye for it as well. It reminds me of a thread on here awhile back were someone posted about a lady that bought a DSLR and returned it because she said it didn't take good pictures. So she bought a different one, that one didn't take good pictures either.

Thats the best story I've ever heard. Some people really are pathetically stupid.
