I'd say that is definitely an eel - I hope it is a native species! Looks scary.

Look around the web its some type of Ribbon Fish......but its got no teeth and I beleive they all do.
The skin looks like snake pattern to a certain extent but still its not a snake of anykind....not an eel.
Doesn't have any characteristics of an eel except the long snake like body. Eels do have gills but very small...they absorb most of their oxygen through their skin.
Interesting find...where was this shot? Or are you just finding the pic and want to know what it is?

i dont think this is it because the mouth lookds different and its smaller, but I am on the right track.
