Default Self Destructive CD

Is there a way to burn a data CD so that the data will eventually destroy itself?

For example, if I wanted to give a CD to someone to use for perfectly legit purposes but don't want them to be able to use it after a period of 1 month.

Obviously this would be really easy to get around by copying the photos off the disc while it works.

Ummm there may be a program that will encrypt the photos and only allow access for a month. But this comes with it's own set of problems. This is a good question I'm curious myself but I don't have time to do any research right now. Where there is a will there is a way, if you have a little programming under your belt.

no matter what you do, there are ways around it. So I'm not sure what the point is of going to any great lengths...

And I realize that. Copy the files over to the computer.

The only way to get around something like that could be to have each individual file set to corrupt itself. And even if you do that you can open it in Photoshop and resave it somewhere else to lose the protection.

It's a curiosity thing mostly for me.

Maybe ask if there is any coding that could be done to actually make the cd explode after one month...now that would be cool

Sony used to do something similar with their audio CD's. They used to include a hidden program on their CD's that would automatically install itself on your computer. This program then kept track of use and any attempts to copy or rip the CD were blocked.

This was eventually discovered and a class-action lawsuit was filed against Sony because they were installing the audio CD monitoring software on people's machines without the owner's consent.

Just put in terms of contract. After one month they can reapply and repay for longer terms of rights usage.
