They drive me nuts too. Everything I order comes through Illinois into the Oak Creek distribution center (about 40 mi. south of me). Then it gets sent overnight to Sheboygan (about 30 mi. north of me) so it can get delivered the next day. Can't they just drop it off on the way? I'd usually even get up at midnight to answer the door!

I've picked up things from UPS before. I would check the tracking and if I saw that it was in my city I would call and tell them to hold it because I couldn't be there for delivery and didn't want it left on my doorstep.

It's probably easier to call them before it hits the truck. It's funny sometimes because they will guarantee it on a certain date but if it comes earlier they wait to deliver until the guarantee date instead of getting it to you sooner.

Finally I have my hands on it. I tried it out on my XTi it's a tad long but it auto focuses so fast and quiet. The sun just went down and its super cold out so I may try taking some photos indoors with it tonight. Tomorrow I'm going to try taking some more pictures at lunch then right after work downtown for the last hour of light.

I can't comment on the quality of the images yet but just the build quality of the lens is really beyond what I have had a chance to work with. The weight really makes you aware that you have over a grand dangling from your neck. I love how the front element doesn't rotate when focusing it really makes working with certain filters lens of a pain. The lens hood is nice, I like the fact that it will cover cover the focal range supplied by the lens with out needing a different hood for wide angle shots. It's a little big but it's necessary and will help protect the front element. The distance scale is handy as well and like the fact it's marked for infrared.

The auto focus works great on my XTi compared to the other lens I have, especially the 50mm F1.8 that lens will hunt even in daylight sometimes.

When I attached the lens to my rebel xs you can really see the crop from the XTi. The coverage I prefer much better on my film body. I bought this lens with intention of going to a full frame body next for my digital. I can't wait to shoot some film with this lens this weekend.

Now I dream of the way when the sun stays out longer and the weather warms up.

I've learned not to pay for faster shipping because anything I've ever ordered came faster in regular mail (I've compared the two).
