Hi,
In the latest take on assignments our Exif files will be checked out. How do I check that my Exif file is intact when I post a picture .Also if it is possible for a moderator to look at an Exif file on line can I access someone else’s Exif file?

That Exif viewing feature is also available in Windows XP. Just right-click the JPEG file and select "Properties" on the popup menu. The Exif information is displayed on the "Summary" tab of the Properties window.

I think what he means is to view exif data of pictures on the internet from within the browser, not windows explorer.

The information would still be there if you downloaded the file to your computer because it is embedded in the image.
For quick checking though, the Firefox extension is definitely a great choice. Wulf |

Unless you've cropped the image in PS 7.0 or GIMP, or used the "save for web" feature in PS 7.0, prior to uploading it, in which case you'll need to use a program like Exifer to copy & paste the EXIF info from the original file back in.
Has someone has figured out a way, or has a handy-dandy plug-in that I don't need to be a programmer to run? I know I have some limitations with GIMP, simply being on a Windows box, but there has to be something

Thanks Jargon for that info. I didn't know you could do that in xp. I right clicked, went to properties, summary then advanced to bring up the exif data. You can even edit the info shown. Good to know.

Over at Opanda, there is a freeware, nifty little tool called IExif. Right click an image and pull the exif info...

Well thanks for all the input .I have tried down loading the file which appears as an "e in a box" right click for properties and I am shown a " General" file with no other tabs in the box. The same as if I right click any photo on the net.
When I right click all I see is a general tab and no summary tab? My Program is Windows XP. I've tried accessing someone else's file on Flickr only to be told I have not got permission! Thanks again.

When your photos are on flickr you can press the "more properties" located on the right, under the make of your camera. That will show you all the exif data. If the picture is on your computer's hard drive you can right mouse click the photo, go to properties and go to the summary tab and then the advanced button to see your exif for that photo.
Usually the photos on flickr have the exif viewable unless the owner has made it private but most people don't seem to. I hope this helps.
