Talking newbie

Hi My name is Anita. I'm from the Kansas City Missouri area. I just joined today. I've been taking pictures for a long time. I have only had my digital camera for a few months. It's a Fujifilm Finepix 3800. I've been having a blast but would like to learn more about technique and such. I also have a Sony Cyber-shot I have never used because I don't know what kind of card to buy for it. Both cameras were garage sale finds and the Sony didn't come with a card. Any info for that would be appreciated.

ratase, Welcome

Here's a reviewer's website I've found very useful:

http://www.steves-digicams.com/f505v.html

Apparently your Sony uses a Memory Stick, which I think is a Sony product. Any camera shop will probably be able to supply you. Enjoy your stay at DPS.

(I use the Fuji FP S3100, liking it more every day, especially the Macro.)

Default Thanks

Thanks for the welcome jiminy!
I went to Wal-Mart to check out the memory sticks they have but I don't know how to tell which one works for this camera. I guess I need to stand there and read them all. The employees didn't know any more than I did. I will check out the site you gave me. Thanks for the info!

ratase,

You're welcome. Before you go out looking again, if you have the model number with you, even the newest clerk should be able to look it up. There are a lot of different CyberShot models (back to 2004) and not all take the stick. Best of luck.

Default I am

Hi I am Scott,

I've been referred here by the user BestRN... so I decided to check it out. I've been using camera's since I was a little kid. Now, I'm a big kid with some expensive toys. Photography has been a long time passion of mine. It's one of the few ways that I can express myself. I deal mostly with youth sports and automotive photography. I've been doing some portraits and trying to get into some fashion.

My current gear is:
Canon 1DMark II
Canon 24-70mm F2.8L
Canon 70-200mm F2.8L IS
Canon 540ez Speedlite (four total)
Pocket Wizards (Five total)
Canon 1.4x & 2.0x TC
Kendo 1.4x, 2.0x and 3.0x TC.
Bogen-Manfrotto Self-Standing Pro Monopod, Black Anodized. (two total)

I've had lots of other lenses and few other camera's that I've owned, chucked or given away.

Silverstangs Welcome Scott! Some pretty nice equipment you got there! I'm sure you'll be the envy of a lot of us. Interested in seeing your pics and hearing how you take your sports and car shots.

Smile Intro

Greetings All, I am very happy to be here. I have looked for a while for somewhere that I can talk and share info as well as ask questions. Now let me introduce myself.

My name is Canoe,(yes even my mom calls me that), I am married with 2 lovely girls. I am a sailor by trade, but a big kid at heart. I love to take photos. As I am sure all of you do as well. I am from South Louisiana and love wildlife. I never really had the camera to take wildlife pictures. But that has just changed. All the cameras I have ever had were point & shoot type. And I have just got my first DSLR. I never thought to look for tips to take better pictures with my other cameras. So I am truely a beginner. Another large problem I have is that I am at sea a lot of the time. So I have very little chances for taking pictures. But I do get some good sunsets. I am trying to get a flickr account so maybe you all can share your thoughts on my pics.

I was using a Kodak E Z Share

I just got a
Pentax K10D
Pentax lens 18x55 mm
And a great big head open for learning.

Hey guys, I'm Philip, 20 years old, from the Philippines. Currently, I'm using the family point and shoot. I'm planning to buy my first camera hopefully really soon. Currently an engineering student, so the best that I can afford from my savings is probably a Powershot point and shoot.

After I graduate (hopefully soon as well), I'd love to go serious with my photography and get a DSLR probably when I get a job.

I enjoy reading the blog, it would really help me.

Default Greetings!

Hi!

My name's Tom (a.k.a 'cousinmacho', the stupid Internet handle I refuse to let go of).

I've had an SLR camera and an interest in serious photography for a couple of years now, but my passion was given a boost when I picked up a Nikon D50 last Christmas. I still think of myself as a beginner, and am always looking to communities like this one for new ideas and techniques.

I've got an ever-expanding Flickr account HERE, and, barring any big money, high recognition contracts coming my way in the near future (unlikely), it'll continue to be the primary showcase for my photography.

Looking forward to posting!

Hello all. KB here. I am fresh, spankin' brand new to the world of digital SLR photography. I purchased my first body yesterday, a Canon Digital Rebel XTi. I've been reading the DPS blog for several months, referring my co-workers to specific posts. I'm looking forward to shooting different subjects and soaking up information like a sponge around here. Thanks in advance!
