Hi there... not sure if I ever did this. I've been on the newsletter thing forever, but have never really come over to the forums and I thought it was a good time to do so. I've been into photography as long as I can remember and have started (finally) taking the steps to make it a business of sorts. I just started a website and had my first client (guinea pig ) and am trying to find my way. I hope to get to know some of you here and continue to learn and better my skills.

Default Hello!

I can't remember if I already posted to the introductions forum, but then again, I am nearly stricken with absentmindedness due to overloading my proverbial plate!
Anyway, I am Christina, aka Hotflash and I am here to learn, and read and generally just improve my photography... I wake up every day hoping to learn something new, and I am never bored, just way too darned busy. Glad to be here and have the opportunity to learn as much as I can. I hope to post a few of my photos to get un-biased opinions and serious constructive criticism, because of course my husband is biased and I can't get him to say anything except, "I LOVE IT!" Looking forward to an actual critique! hahaa! I have wedding shoots in my very near future, and need to beef up my non-flash lighting skills. So much forum to read, so little time...

Default An old newbie (if that makes sense)

Howdy folks.

Just found this site and realized it has a TON of information that I hope to glean from it.
I am a retired firefighter that loves photography and am learning all I can, while I can.
I would probably be labeled an "enthusiast" at best, but it's all fun. Hopefully I can learn more while I am on here and I hope to chat with you in here soon.
Cheers.
Randy

Hi all,
I just bought a Canon Rebel T3, graduating from the point-and-shoots. I'm an utter novice with DSLRs, but wanted to buy and learn how to use one, since I travel a couple times a year. Looking forward to learning all that's out there.

Wink

Hi im Sam

Im starting out on a dslr, well actually an SLT, i use an Sony A35 which is a SLT, Im only 14 so if I dont understand sorry, and im also on a budget of around £150 for anything.
I have a 18-55mm lens and a 55-200mm lens, Im waiting for my timer release to arrive and looking at buying a tripod or a flash. I would appreciate any advice as to how I can make the ost out of my photogrpahy. I am specifically interested in macro, which conincidently happens to be one of the most expensive, depending on the extensivness of your equipment. But Im new to this and I apreciate an advice.

Im trying all sorts of weird ideas that I would never dream of if I still used my Tz4. If anyone knows any second-hand stuff that would be sutiable then please mention. Macro lens, extension tubes, flashgun, tripod, and anything else interesting.

Default looking to learn lots, this must be the place!

Hey, I'm suzanne aka foodbytes. I'm an semi-old lady living in Canada's capital and I love to bore my friends with my pictures. I'm a point and shot person. I thought I might want to move up but then I read the oh-so-helpful dslr/point and shoot 101 article posted here and no, I think I'll stick with this one. Great read! really opened up my eyes.
I have two cameras, both P & S. the nikon coolpix 5700 and a brand new Canon Powershot SX150 IS. the specs on the new one totally blow the Nikon away but man, I miss the swivel monitor and the real viewfinder.
I'm a slow learner and (over the years, so many years...) have been trying to wean myself away from the automatic/scene modes and venture into the world of ISO/f-Stops/shutter speeds. I hope to learn much from the members here.
I've been told I have an 'eye', whatever that means. Personally I think its just because I take hundreds of shots, thereby increasing the odds of a semi-good one. And really, its not like my friends are going to say 'your pictures suck' to my face, now are they....
