Hi

I am idleberry, and I'm from Scotland.

I'm really interested in photography (surprise surprise!) although my obsession has really only taken off in the last 15 months or so, although I've enjoyed it for a bit longer than that.

What to say. I'm 28, and although I went to uni, came out, got a great job that paid well, I wasn't happy. So I quit. And now I'm back to living in the world of unemployment, but with a strong hope that maybe a college will accept me as a student. Although I am pessimistic on that front. Hmm. We shall see.

I like "indie" music. I hate saying that word. But I think it influences my tastes beyond what I dance to.

And I really want to learn. I want people to tell me what is good, and what is rubbish, I want constructive criticism.

I may well only lurk here mind you, simply because I just want to absorb information, but who knows, I may end up posting too.

But hello out there!

thanks for reading this far.

Default Hello from Spain

Hello.

My name is Gregorio and I'm from Zaragoza, Spain. I´ve always been interested in photography and post-processing. I found this blog a couple of weeks ago and I'm still enjoying and learning from the first to the last entries that I've missed. I'm reading all of them little by little, and I'll try to put into practice every piece of advice. Well, almost all of them.

Gregorio- There is a lot of information here and on the blog, isn't there? It could keep you busy learning for months !

Kerry- I think it's a pretty great site, too . Great hobby and a wonderful way to view the world more closely.

Hi

I'm Carol from London, UK. I found this site a few days ago when Googling for information about digital photography because I've just bought a digital SLR. The site and the forum look to be full of interesting tips and great photos. I've had a Konica Minolta Z2 digital camera for a few years, and before that a Minolta film SLR, but I've mostly stuck to 'auto' mode with both of them. Now I've got the new camera, it's definitely time for me to learn more about it and use some of those dials and settings. The camera is a Sony Alpha 100, which I chose because it's basically a Konica Minolta and will take the lenses from my old film SLR. I've only had it a week and I'm very pleased with it so far.

My main interest is motor racing and I love taking photos when I go to races. The Z2 is too slow for close-up action shots - I've got lots of photos of empty bits of track! - so I mostly concentrate on long-distance shots around the circuit, and also stationary cars, drivers and other subjects around the paddock and pits. (I'm not talking about Formula One here, because it's impossible to get close to anything!) Now I've got the DSLR I'm going to learn how to pan and get some proper racing shots.

I also like to take lots of photos of places and events as a sort of visual diary. But now I've discovered this forum, I hope to join in some of the assignments and take photos just for the pleasure of taking photos.

Just got a Canon EOS 350D and have always wanted to get better at photography, but always lacked sufficient motivation and knowledge.

Finally took the plunge and got the Canon 4 weeks ago, bought a decent lens to go with it ( Tamron SP AF17-50mm F/2.8 Di II LD Aspherical (IF) Lens ), bought the Short Courses book on the EOS and have been practicing quite a bit.

I intend to become a regular here, learning from you gurus, and hopefully be able to contribute eventually.

Regards,
Hameed

Hello,

My name is Angela (Surprised?). I'm from Massachusetts in the U.S. I've been photographing people for years now. Mostly children (I had 5 of my own - all grown now - and 12 nieces & nephews - not to mention all the friends I have with children and now some with grandchildren, I have quite a collecton of people images.

I want to movei nto a carreer that I'm happy with and since people encouraged my photographing (not that I'm exceptional at it the actual artistic side of the image, but I seem to have a ay of making people feel comfortable enough in front of the camer to get shots that they are happy with) and have had a few even ask me to photograph their wedding. Very rookie in the comp. but decent enough that they were happy - plus it was cheaper (free)

Soooo.... A few photography classes and lots of money spent on equipment later here I am, moving into a free lance/on location photography business, that will soon be extremely profitable.

I actually joined the GoSnap forum of the UK after trying a few others and found it the friendliest forum site. Someone from that site placed the link for a tutorial from the Digital Photography School and I clicked on it and signed up.

I like this site just as much as the UK site. The people here are very friendly and encouraging. These forums are great for support and help when needed and it's an eye opener in just how much there is to know and learn in this business. I hope to make many forum friends and learn great things here.
