Hi I'm Natalie from Devon in England. I've been interested in photography for about 2 years, but I'm a busy mummy to a 4 year old, a 2 year old and a 4 month old so I have neglected my hobby. I'm hoping to learn lots of tips from you experienced people, as I'm very nervous about sharing my work. Currently I have a Canon 400D, kit lens and recently purchased a 70-200 f/4L which is producing some lovely portraits of my baby! and I have my eye on a macro lens...

Hi Everyone!! Ochiegirl here from Toronto. While in Guatemala I met several great photographers who gave me tips to make my pics better. I really love the process..it actually relaxes me. I enjoy nature shots/macros but would like to learn how to capture people in everyday life. Anyhow I'm SUPER new..I just bought my Canon Rebel XSI 450D two days ago and well.....I feel overwhelmed with how much there is to learn. Can anyone suggest the best starting point (books, classes etc)
Thanks!!! |

Hi!
My name's Martin, I just bought my very first DSLR 3 days ago, a Canon EOS 500D with the 18-55mm kit lens. Taking some good advice from other forums to learn all the ins and outs first so I know what I really need before investing in any more kit. As for me I'm 31 years old and live with my other half in Bangkok, Thailand right now although I am originally from the UK. I am an IT Professional by trade, working for myself currently and always on the look out for good opportunities. My other half is 7 months pregnant which was the driving force behind the DSLR decision as I want to take the very best pictures I can to capture all the moments of the littles ones upcoming life. Other than that am looking forward to getting out and about taking some great shots of this beautiful country I live in. Have been reading through a lot of the training guides and they have been super helpful, finally understanding all these features you take for granted on a Point & Shoot as they're hidden from you. Learning about the basics of ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed has been excellent and am looking forward to some good discussions and more great reading. Thanks, Martin |

Hi everyone,
I found this site while randomly perusing photography tips/tricks sites. People here seem very friendly, so I thought that I'd join. I go by Sparrow or Jess and I'm from Maine. I am an amateur who enjoys photography and would one day like to get better. I use a Canon Powershot S5IS (which was a massive upgrade for me from my previous camera, a powershot a70). I also use Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, and Painter for editing and post-processing. I have a flickr account: Flickr: sparrowswench's Photostream Thanks, Sparrow/Jess |

Howdy all,
I'm Andy and I'm an.... Ok, so that was last weeks introduction. Slowly picking up an interest in photography from shots of mates riding bicycles to published sports photog, and pics of friends to paid for portraiture. Currently on a 400D with a 10-22 and 18-200, and I'm here mainly because community forums are by far and away the best place to learn and improve. If I bump into any other Mountain Bike photographers while I'm here all the better.... Right, time to post my first question... |

Another newbie here.
Have decided that the Pentax K100D that i bought my wife a few years ago should finally be used as it should be rather than an expensive point and shoot. I'm currently enjoying experimenting with all the settings on the camera and having my eyes opened up to the magic of photoshop. In the early stages of learning but am hooked. Have put a few pics i've taken on flickr, comments appreciated. I go by Az, or Aaron and i'm from the sunny Mid North Coast of Australia

Hi
Im Shirley, from North Dakota. Im new to photography. I tend to learn things the hard way, I tend to just 'dive' into projects and learn along the way via trail and errors, almost like throwing a non-swimmer in the deep end pool and learning to swim that way (without lessons)... Anyway, I did take photography class in my high school years... but a lot of good it did for me, being Deaf and had no interpreter at the time, just hand me a camera and tell me to snap pictures.... Then again, I do love pictures, I do love the arts in creating a photograph, it captures me... I could just stare at a picture for a long time and wonder how its done... So comes my next question... where... I wasnt sure where to start in this forum to ask for advice... My question is.... I live in a beautiful, beautiful country (farm community), Im trying thru trail and error to capture sunsets over the sunflower fields. What I dont understand is why when the sunset is a beautiful ball of redish/orange color the photograph of the sun comes out as a bright yellow/ white-ish color. I read all the 'Photography Tips for Beginners' & 'The Basics of Exposure' ... I just dont know what Im doing wrong. How do I capture the natural sunset color? is it possible? The camera I have is a Nikon D60. |
