My name is Tony Thomas from Charleston, WV I am a Underground Coal Miner and I found my way here from Ruthie Mae. We were out shooting today and she mentioned this place and said I should join so here I am.....
After NOT reading the rules first I proceeded to post a ton of pictures in the WRONG place so I will probably be reprimanded for it when a mod sees it.
But I have read the rules now and I think I am on my way.
I started shooting after my wife mentioned I had a "Good eye" while out helping her with her shooting and so here I am.
She has a Canon XS DSLR a Kit lens and a 50mm and a 85mm so being a man I ordered a XSi (Mine has to be better right?) and then Ruthie Mae took me under her wing and taught me a TON of information and thanks to her and my wife I am on the FAST track to getting good at this. (Thanks Ruthie and Kelly) )
Ruthie and Kelly do the portraiture and I am doing the nature/time lapse/panoramic photos.
And without Ruthie's kids I wouldn't have half of my pictures LOL
So far all of my pics have gotten some good response but I am still MILES from where I think I need to be.
So I look forward to you guys giving me TONS of help as I take on this LONG journey.

My Flickr page is Flickr: TonyT1970's Photostream
so drop by and look at all of my pics and I hope you get as much enjoyment out of them as I did while shooting them.

See you all around the forums
Tony

Hi
Have just discovered this forum site. I am from New Zealand and discovered a love for photography about a year ago. Have been taking lots of pics for Horse events and Hunts that my daughter has been involved in as well as dabbling in some other areas. Am using a Nikon D40 SLR digital camera with a variety of lenses. My photos are on flickr and have recently started a website - Pics by B - Home.

Have a challenge coming up over the weekend of taking a picture of the 100 to 150 members of the Hunting Association on their horses for the Centennial picture book 2010.
Any tips on taking a "crowd" outside with moving horses and people would be appreciated! Getting myself elevated may be a challenge, unless I can get up onto of a horse truck! Rain may also be a challenge as umbrellas may be out of the question due to the horses!

Hi,

I have been a member on here for a while (months), just reading tutorials and admiring the photo's on here.
I love photography and every aspect in it but I am a complete beginner (still on auto settings but getting braver lol), I am always looking for things to photograph but never feel they are good enough, maybe I will get the courage up and post some on here and see what you all think.
Macro shots are my favourite and I am forever taking photos of people when they are pre-occupied (much to the annoyance of my family!)

regards

Louise

Hi, my name is Lezlee Elliott, I live in Atlanta, GA. I'm the Art Director for ThemeNaps LLC, and have been in art since I was about 3 years old. I majored in Visual Communication and Design, with a Concentration in Illustration, at Winthrop Unversity from 01'-05'. While there, I took photography as part of the curriculum and I was hooked! I got to use my dad's old Minolta manual camera and currently I have a Cannon A620 Powershot (point and shoot)...but I'm looking around for a good deal on a Nikon D40.

I stumbled on this website while I was bored one day and I've been addicted ever since. I'm so excited about the assignments, I love to see the entries. And when I finally get my DSLR I'll definitely be posting! Till then I enjoy chiming in on other posts... And for anyone who has questions about Photoshop, I consider myself a "Master" ahahahahahha I'm joking...but I've been working in it for a very long time...so I know some stuff!

Default Hola!

Hi everyone my name is Carolyn and I'm from Beijing, China.

I went to boarding school in the Boston area for three years of high school, and am starting college in Maryland in the fall.

I currently shoot with a Canon EOS 50D, a Canon IXUS 800 IS and a Canon AE-1 Program. (Why yes, I do like my Canons)
I got my DSLR this past Christmas, but I've been into photography for a couple of years. I took a B&W photography course at my high school and loved it, which was why I also bought a film camera.

I've actually been subscribing to the newsletters for about half a year now, but I never joined... well, here I am now!

Hope to get much feedback from everyone - I would greatly love to improve my photography skills.
