Default Newbie here

Hiya! My name is Tina and I'm from NSW Australia. I'm a stay home mum with 5 children...and 1 husband.

I have just recently completed a short course (intro to photoshop) and am starting a "intro to the photography industry" course through TAFE at the end of this month.

I ALWAYS have my camera with me and love taking photos, especially of my kids and landscapes.

My current camera is a Kodak DZ710 - a great little camera but I am on the hunt for a DSLR that suits my budget.

I'm looking forward to learning lots here!

Default Hi, I'm Holly

Hi, I'm Holly. I'm live in Ohio. I'm 23 years old. I previously worked for a photographer for 2 years as an assistant and then as an assistant photographer. I LOVED it! But due to school I had to quit. I've always had a passion for photography and beautiful pictures. I love playing in photoshop.

I just recently (as in last week) bought a Nikon D5000 with the 18-55mm lens. LOVE IT! But not sure what to do with it...lol. Gotta get the creative juices flowing. I also have a casio exilim point and shoot.

I really hope to learn some new techniques and get some inspiration from the forum.

Default about me...

My name is Matthew and I'm currently in Abq, NM.

Got interested in photography during high school where I got my first manual camera...a Vivitar. I tried to take some classes when I got to college but hated it because we were being taught by a grad student and not an actual professor. Earlier this spring I finally upgraded my camera to a Nikon D60 because I was interested in being able to take both manual and auto focus shots. So I am pretty much learning about my camera from scratch and just guessing on alot of my shots which thankfully have turned out pretty well so far. I found this site when I was looking up tips on how to take night shots and other kinds of shots and loving the help I have gotten from it so far. And if you see any of my pictures on the site...please give me some feedback positve or negative cause I could use all the help I can get.

Hi, my name is Ashley. I'm 19 years old and I live in the Philippines. My sister got her first DSLR, a Canon EOS 350D, around 3-4 years ago, and we just used it for casual purposes. Now that she's gotten a new XSi, I've acquired full ownership of the old one. It's only been a year since I've taken photography quite seriously. I'm planning to upgrade to a 5d MkII soon, and I really hope to learn from this community so that I'd be able to make the most out of my future camera. *crosses fingers*

Hello from Canada
I love this website and have become addicted to it. I was given a Sony DSC-S75 for retirement 8 years ago and always used auto mode. I just upgraded to the Sony HX1 and I tried manual settings for the first time today. Not too successful (and scary) but I'm learning. There is so much to learn! I really need to take a photo course -some day.
Nice to meet you all,
Diane

My name is Tony Thomas from Charleston, WV I am a Underground Coal Miner and I found my way here from Ruthie Mae. We were out shooting today and she mentioned this place and said I should join so here I am.....
After NOT reading the rules first I proceeded to post a ton of pictures in the WRONG place so I will probably be reprimanded for it when a mod sees it.
But I have read the rules now and I think I am on my way.
I started shooting after my wife mentioned I had a "Good eye" while out helping her with her shooting and so here I am.
She has a Canon XS DSLR a Kit lens and a 50mm and a 85mm so being a man I ordered a XSi (Mine has to be better right?) and then Ruthie Mae took me under her wing and taught me a TON of information and thanks to her and my wife I am on the FAST track to getting good at this. (Thanks Ruthie and Kelly) )
Ruthie and Kelly do the portraiture and I am doing the nature/time lapse/panoramic photos.
And without Ruthie's kids I wouldn't have half of my pictures LOL
So far all of my pics have gotten some good response but I am still MILES from where I think I need to be.
So I look forward to you guys giving me TONS of help as I take on this LONG journey.

My Flickr page is Flickr: TonyT1970's Photostream
so drop by and look at all of my pics and I hope you get as much enjoyment out of them as I did while shooting them.

See you all around the forums
Tony

Hi
Have just discovered this forum site. I am from New Zealand and discovered a love for photography about a year ago. Have been taking lots of pics for Horse events and Hunts that my daughter has been involved in as well as dabbling in some other areas. Am using a Nikon D40 SLR digital camera with a variety of lenses. My photos are on flickr and have recently started a website - Pics by B - Home.

Have a challenge coming up over the weekend of taking a picture of the 100 to 150 members of the Hunting Association on their horses for the Centennial picture book 2010.
Any tips on taking a "crowd" outside with moving horses and people would be appreciated! Getting myself elevated may be a challenge, unless I can get up onto of a horse truck! Rain may also be a challenge as umbrellas may be out of the question due to the horses!
