Sure -
I work as a S&M professional with a 5 star hotel chain which is Asia's finest and India;s biggest, Had developed love for taking pictures. My first camera which I handled was an Agfa Click -IV way back when I was in school ( may be when I was 10 yrs) and it was B&W then. Oh no, before that I clicked some pics with my Dad's Brownie. A Box camera with a 130 or 120 film format. It clicked some good pics though B&W. After that in 1985 I bought myself an SLR - Minolta X-700, but disappointed as however much I tried 50% of the pictures came out lousy. It came with a primary lens of 50 mm and then I added a Vivitar 50 - 120 Zoom. This lens I couldnt handle - maybe I was not too familiar with how to get the best out of it. Sold that off and then first digital experience was with a Kodak V-5. ( disappointed as the batt would die off in 15 shots and the flash was weak) got it ex-changed for a Fuji F-20. And Wow that was a turning point. I still have it and boy it sure is a good piece of equipment. Then I bought a Olympus C-770 uz as I wanted some more optical zoom and a hotshoe. I bought that second hand and had it with me for two years, untill just last week traded it for a Kodak Z-980 as Olympus didnt have an IS and was craving for a little extra zoom with latest features. I love to click and click, experiment with my pictures and learn to improve. (specially in the manual mode ) So thats me. :

Hi,
My name is Bob, I live in Imperial Missouri, 25miles south of St. Louis. I have been in photography all my life and about 3 years ago I decided to make a go of it professionally. I use a Canon 20d and 30d. The business has been a challenge with the state our economy is in. My business is Ras Images and I do have a site rasimagesmo.com if anyone would like to take a peek. I scouted around for a site and I have been members of other sites but did really feel comfortable with them. You ask for help and no one responds. This site seems to have all levels of skilled photographers. I look forward to gaining any knowledge to advance my skills and be very happy to offer and help anyone with questions.

Hi, I joined last night

I'm Jenny, by trade I am an HR consultant & Mummy to my 18 month old little boy.

My husband calls me a photoholic & I always have had my camera in my hand (it has become kind of a joke...) but it has always been a standard point and shoot digi camera (although I do have a normal SLR camera gathering dust in the cupboard )

I have literally just bought my first digital SLR today! Hoorah! Its a Nikon D60 with just the standard lense that it comes with but I am REALLY excited about learning how to use it

A friend told me about this site & already I can see how useful I'm going to find it!

I have a big holiday planned in July, to Italy, going to be visiting Venice so I am really hoping to get some great shots

Default Introduce Yourself

My favorite place on earth is Kentucky. Being born here and raise on a dairy farm in Pulaski Co. I married a Kentucky girl. We have one daughter and son-in-law and two grand kids.

I have been interested in photography for a long time. I began taking pictures (I first used the word shooting) in 1970 while serving in Viet Nam with a Yashica 35mm. My interests are many including, landscapes, scenic, nature, people and motorcycling, I ride a (Harley Davidson Electra Glide Classic). Now semi retired I started with film cameras now digital Canon xsi. I love to travel. I am an avid photographer, continuously learning the photo craft. I don't really know what all my photographs are good for, except for the satisfaction they bring to me. Once in front of the computer I carefully look at my photographs, quickly discarding bad shots, then go to work using Adobe Photoshop Elements 7. I don’t spend a lot of time trying to enhance images. I am an amateur and have a long way to go. I "Take only photographs; leave only footprints".

Happiness is wanting what you have, not wanting what you don’t have. I am very interested in learning and improving, so any and all comments are greatly appreciated.
Larry, (Penary)

Default Hi everyone

Hi, my name is Shantanu. Photography is my hobby and I want to improve what I am now. Many thanks to Darren for bringing such nice concept to everyone, it seems to be a great place and I am hoping that I would learn a lot. I do not have flickr account but working on one. I will share some of my photographs in flickr and update you all.
I have Olympus E-500 and I know its not as great as Canon but want to learn and become confident before I go for an upgrade.

Well I guess I never introduced myself formally.
I am Kate and I am from NY, just south of Buffalo. I have been behind the lens since I was a little girl with my father. He worked for Kodak and photography was his passion, I like to think he would be proud of me for some of the work I do.
I have four kids, a dog and a husband and my darling Canon Xti. Kit lens, 50mm 1.8, 70-300, speedlight and soon a 28-135mm lens.
I shoot family, infant, maternity and birth photography as well as a ton of nature.
I joined to learn, learn, learn and hope to take some really nice pictures like a heck of a lot of you really soon.
Thanks!

Default Pathfinder Solutions

Well, I suppose I should introduce myself. I'm an automotive engineer who has found himself with some extra time... I have taken a liking to photography and have spent the last several weeks coming to grips with my Canon S3 IS. I've always taken a decent shot but recently have learned how much I have to learn to take a good shot.

I joined DPS by referral and will be looking through lots of tutorials. I am starting with composition and lighting.

BTW I am married with a wife, three kids a live in mother in law and a dog.

All the best

Pathfinder

Wink Newbie!!!

Hello All,
My name is Kathy Jirau and I live in Brooklyn, New York, USA.
I've always loved photography (my dad was a photo junkie in his days...when we were little, the bathroom doubled over as a dark room...fun times!!!)
I'm married for 18 years now, no children, and 6 nieces and nephews who think they are ours.

I've always wanted more from the pictures I took, but only recently did the bug emerge...
As I don't want to be overwhelmed and the price was right (free thanks to my husband's job at State Farm), I decided to get the Canon Power Shot SX10 IS (I did do my research and asked around, so it was an informed decision).

I'm looking forward to putting this baby to work...therefore here I am. I'm thrilled to have found this site (thanks Google). And I look forward to sharing my first shots with you all and hearing all your critique. Please don't hold back...any thing you can tell me that will help will be much appreciated!

Kathy

Hello all,

My name is Bernard Golder and a new member at DPS for about a month now.
I am close to retirement and have decided to get more focused on my photography again.

When I was at school and about 15 years old I use to develop my own fotos - created a darkroom and did enlargements of fotos that had been taken using a 35mm camera. I also use to do some hand colouring of some of them as it was too expensive to purchase the developing liquids for colour prints. When I started a full time job I basically gave it up and went into an Insurance career.

Still continued to take a few fotos from time to time especially when my children arrived on the scene.

Looking back I wish now that I had stayed in the photography line as I enjoy it so much especially sports, garden photography and of course grand-children now.

It took me a while to move to digital as the changes taking place were so rapid I was not sure of the real benefit. I have since found that out now in not having to print fotos, or just a few from time to time, but to share them electronically whether it be PC, internet, disc or DVD. When we went on holiday through Europe I came home and it cost $600 to print them all.

Well over the last 10 years I have owned a Minolta 35mm, Nikon Coolpix 5700 ( my first digital ), Nikon D70S and now this year a Nikon D300.

I have also been involved with computers in one way or another and now have been teaching myself the skills of using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom. I get great enjoyment in enhancing photos that have been taken.

I also created my own website to upload fotos Bernzfotos, Wellington, New Zealand and to share with others. Recently, after joining DPS, I have also created a flickr account Flickr: Bernzfotos' Photostream.

Will appreciate any comments made, good or bad, anything that may help me take better fotos in the future.

Thanks and keep smiling,
Cheers
Bernz
