I guess all the cool kids post here first. A friend recommended this page to me. I generally use a Powershot S5 IS. I thought about getting an SLR but I thought I'd see how much I use the powershot. I quite enjoy it, the zoom on it has served me well. I've only ever really taken pictures for fun and relied heavily on the automatic features of my camera. Hopefully this site will encourage me to experient more with the manual settings.
Cheers! |

Hi, I'm Husain and this is a much delayed intro. I've been into digital photography for about two and a half years now. Did a bit of film before that.
Gear: Canon 400D with a couple of lenses I've been looking around at a number of sites but this is the only one I keep coming back to. Keep up the good work Darren! |

Hi guys, I'm new here. My name is Lauren, I'm a homeschooled junior in Missouri. I've been interested in photography ever since I was about 11, and now, 5 cameras later, I'm pretty sure wedding/portrait photography is what I want to do with myself. I recently bought my first DSLR, a Canon Rebel XS (it came with an EFS 18-55mm IS lens) and have been gradually trying to figure it out.
I've learned alot from DPS already, during the school year I had a photography class, for which my mother or I would choose one of the themes from the weekly assignments. I've also been reading lots of the tutorials, and plan on doing the 10 Shots, 10 Portraits, 1 Focal Lenght challenge. Anyway, I think that's all...Looking forward to learning lots more from y'all!

Hi all. My names is Jess and I am a photo-junky. There, I've admitted I have a problem. Phew... hehe. I am 32 and am a wife and mom. My dad started my love of photography when I was just little as he has a degree in photography himself. I really started getting into it when I was in high school journalism class and got to take pictures for the year book with my dad's Nikon SLR that he had at that time. I shot tons of pics, but never really pursued it more then this. When I got married 4 years ago we bought a Kodak p&s for our honeymoon, and that began to peter out last April; so I convinced my husband that we needed a REALLY nice camera since we had our daughter who was then 9 months old and we were going on a trip to visit my grandmother in CA. We bought a Nikon D40 that has the kit lens and zoom lens as well. I adore my camera and up until now have gotten a few shots I am really proud of, but I want to get better with it so I can get MORE shots to be proud of and maybe even do a job or two with it.

Howdy,
I'm Christopher from Northeast Ohio, and I'm an IT Geek by trade. I've loved taking pictures since I was little, usually with cheap or disposible 35mm cameras, and when I was lucky enough with a 35mm slr my Dad brought back from Vietnam (though the brand escapes me, I think it was a Minolta). I got into digital not that long ago, within the last two years, and I use a Nikon D80, P80, Kodak Z712IS and my pocket camera is a Canon Powershot A590IS. There are lots of other things I am interested in, American history, equine & rodeos, fire & emergency services, etc. and luckily they are all things I can photograph (well, technically historical places), which is awesome being able to combine passions together. In March of this year I was appointed as the Regional Director of Region 16 (Ohio & Michigan) of the Photographic Society of America. I love reading DPS and getting the emails, it's such a fantastic site! Christopher

I also have an Etsy shop that sells prints of my photographic images, but I hope to progress to working with magazines in the future. All of the images in my shop are from the last digital SLR I owned almost 5 years ago (a Fuji Finepix) & a Nikon Coolpix point-and-shoot that I had up until about 6 months ago. I plan to use these forums to learn more about the technicalities of digital photography & getting critiques on images I take (to help me decide which ones to sell as prints ... etc.). As a contributor, I'm happy to share my honest opinion on the images of others and share what do knowledge I have.

Hi, I'm Steve, a hobbyist photographer from Leeds, UK, interested mostly in architectural urban photos and shots of the beautiful British countryside. Always had a camera but have really got back into it over the last couple of years with converting to digital.
Currently using a Fujifilm S7000 and a rather solid Praktika LLC. |

My name is Melissa and I'll be a high school sophmore next year. I've always been incredibly interested in art of all kinds. I actually became interested in photography from when I started working on the yearbook in seventh grade. I'm shooting with a Canon Powershot SX100 and can often be seen around town disrupting sidewalk traffic to take photos and wielding an umbrella on sunny days (good trick to diffuse some light for close-ups)!
You can check out my DA page, but know that I haven't posted anything new in practically forever. |
