Howdy all!
I'm Brent (from Tennessee) and I love photography! I'm a nerd at heart (or some people think so) cause I just graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Physics and now going to UAH (University of Alabama in Huntsville) for my Ph.D. I cannot wait! Photography has been a true passion of mine for quite some time and right now me and my oldest sister are the picture takers of the family. I have a Canon Rebel XTi with the standard 18-55mm lens. I haven't put too much money into this endeavor, but I want to learn what I can do and can't do with this. Truly, I would love to get a better lens for photography, but expenses won't permit. I did recently take a photography class for one semester using a 35mm Canon 100 (I think) camera where we developed our own negatives and used enlargers too! I loved that but I feel it's too expensive for my funds to try to do it on my own. Digital has been my main (and only till recent) medium for photography and I love this aspect. I can't wait to learn so much from you guys & gals! Good to be here!

-Brent

Hi everyone, my name is Kim and I'm new here. I'm from Huntsville, AL, but moved to a small town south of there. I joined this site to get tips and information on digital photography. I still use a 5 mp Kodak Easy Share C533, but I'm hoping for a Rebel Xti for my birthday next month. I'm using Photoshop CS2 for editing after upgrading from Paint Shop Pro Photo XI so I'm still learning my way around the software.

Hi, I'm Jackie Wimbush. I live in Ontario and I've worked as a graphic designer for many years in the horse racing world.

Until the digital age, I found photography frustrating and relied on professional photographers for all ad shots (even though I did very well in my college photography course).

I bought my first digital 8 or 9 years ago - an Olympus Evolt 300. I loved it and used it for ad work when I could but found it wasn't powerful enough to capture the speed of horse racing well. It sure took good care of me though.

I've recently bought my dream camera, a Nikon d2h with a f2.8 18-200mm Nikkor Zoom. Love it! Don't know how to use it!!! But I'm learning. It is not so forgiving as my Olympus but oooooh so powerful.

I am so happy to find the Digital Photography School site and look forward sharing knowledge.

Hi everyone, I decided to stop lurking last week and posted a pic in the assignment section, I am hoping to continue with the assignments.

I've enjoyed photography forever, I can remember wandering around the little town I grew up in taking snapshots of all the landmarks in town. I've had p&s cameras until last Christmas when my DH presented me with a Canon 400D and two lenses. I've since added a polarizing filter and a tripod.

I like taking landscapes but would like to improve in all areas, esp macro and portraits

Default Hi

Hi everyone my name is Clive i live in County Kerry Ireland and a relatively new photographer

My first camera was a Nikon F80 slr with a 28-100mm lense,I took it to Australia to a wedding in a place called Walwa to my suprise i took some great photo's,just standard's.That was it i was sort of hooked.

The next camera was purchased in Oz,Darwin a Canon 300D,once again took some great photo's,well that's what people were telling me anyway,so being a bit of a gadgit man I moved on.

And the next one was back to Nikon (I think they are the best) a D80 more great photo's mostly portrait's some sport's.Then I read an article by Ken Rockwell saying that the D80 was far inferior to the D90 so i looked into Ken Rockwell's Web and saved up to purchase a D700 which he said was a great camera, nearly as good as the D3 and a lot less to buy.

I now have the D700 with a 50mm 1.4D Lense Fantastic, I now have a lot to learn and this site seem's perfect.

Cool

Hi Everyone!!

Hi, my name is Gordon, I'm 26 years old and live in Loughborough (England / United Kingdom). I'm fairly new to taking photos, and have only recently purchased my first SLR, a Nikon D90 in March 09. I started with a point and shoot Lumix DMC-FZ5 a couple of years ago.

I've been an avid reader of Digital Photography School for well over a year but thought it was time to stop lurking and dive into the forums. I look forward to contributing to the forum over the next few months/year.

Gordon

Smile hey

hey guys.. just thought id introduce myself.. give a bit of background, u know the usual!! well.. ive only just started gettin back into my photography, as when i was younger *about 14* id saved up for about a year, and brought myself a really nice camera for a school project i was involved in. one lunchtime, my bag got stolen, my camera trashed, then put back!!! it broke my heart, so i gave up, having had my dream smashed..
i was going thru a low patch, as i had lost my ambition for things i used to do, and my boyfriend eventually persuaded me to give photography another go now that there were no immature idiots to ruin my gear, so i thought why not. my mum brought me a small canon powershot camera just to play with and get back into my hobby, and im now looking at getting a proper camera to play with
anyway.. thats my story, and i hope to learn and advance my skills by talkin to u guys, and eventually, be able to help someone like me.

Danni x

I guess all the cool kids post here first. A friend recommended this page to me. I generally use a Powershot S5 IS. I thought about getting an SLR but I thought I'd see how much I use the powershot. I quite enjoy it, the zoom on it has served me well. I've only ever really taken pictures for fun and relied heavily on the automatic features of my camera. Hopefully this site will encourage me to experient more with the manual settings.

Cheers!

Thumbs up

Hi, I'm Husain and this is a much delayed intro. I've been into digital photography for about two and a half years now. Did a bit of film before that.

Gear: Canon 400D with a couple of lenses

I've been looking around at a number of sites but this is the only one I keep coming back to. Keep up the good work Darren!
