Hello everybody,
![]() My name is Thofik, I'm 15 years old and from India. My love for photography started 2 years ago, when I kept tinkering with the manual mode on my dad's Canon S3 IS (That camera taught me a lot) Currently, i own a Canon EOS 450D with an EF-S 18-55mm and a Sigma 70-300mm lens. I'm really into landscape and night photography but nowadays i'm experimenting with slow shutter speed shots. Cheers to all photographers out there ! |

Joined a few months ago but just came across this thread..
My name is Charlie (i am female, its a nickname) and I am from South Florida. I am an engineer with a BS is Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from the University of Florida (Go Gators!). I graduated in 2007 and currently work full time for a local company while working on a mechanical engineering masters degree part-time online through UF. I take photos for fun, but have started to (hopefully) improve. With enough practice maybe I can make a little money in my spare time (Ha! Like that exists...). Gear: Nikon D60 18-200 f3.5-5.6 AF-S VR SB-600 plus other random accessories and knick knacks I can rig up or buy cheap online |

Hi, My name is Hai-En. My wife and I live in California and just got started a few months ago taking photos as a business after starting into the DSLR world about 2-3yrs ago. We would characterize ourselves as lifestyle and event photographers. We're still are narrowing down our niche. I have a personal like of food photography and would like more info on how to get into that. My wife is into family portraits, birthdays, and other event photography. Hope to learn a few things from others here at the forum.

Hello My name is Ted Lawrence, I am 62 years young and I live in the United Kingdom, in a town called Telford in the county of Shropshire. I have a Canon EOS 400D with an 18-55mm zoom lens. I haven't been using the camera long about 2 months, a couple of work mates and myself are taking a lot of interest in digital photography. They also have digital cameras and we share a common desire to walk in the local countryside, at weekends and take lots of photographs. I think that DPS is wonderful, it is nice to think that someone cares enough to share their knowledge with all who are interested.

Hello everyone my name is Scott Ferrede I am 34 and I am from Kitchener/Waterloo Ontario Canada.
I have been interested in photography for a while but it has always been more of a side hobby that I did when I was not chasing wind and waves. I have sold some prints and have done weddings but have never really thought of making it a career. I work for a consulting company as a Executive search consultant (Head Hunter) and lately I have been using photography as a way to relax. I find that sometimes your hobby's can go stale after a bit and it is hard to find creativity in your minds eye when you have so much going on in life. Then I found this site and like and it was like a bit of air, gas and spark that got my creativity firing again. So thanks to everyone here this is a great site with years of potential and I look forward to sharing many more and viewing many more photos. Cheers to DPS and all its members. Scott

Hi everyone.
My name is Bernice. I live in Wellington, New Zealand with my Lovely husband and children. I have had a Canon EOs 350D for a few years now (one of those impulse buys that has yet to reach its full potential ), so I figured it was time to finally learn how to use it. I am an artist (abstract painter) and have gone back to art school part time to hang out with other 'arty' types when I'm not changing nappies ![]() I am hoping to build my confidence not only with my camera - perhaps even venture so far as to take the darn thing off automatic!!, but also to become familiar, and comfortable with photoshop. At present, both of these goals are feeling quite a long way away. I am so glad to have found an online community that is not only supportive, but educational. I look forward to taking part in the assignments, and hopefully making some friends along the way. |

I live in Tennessee very close to the beautiful Smoky Mountains with my husband and 5 long-haired miniature dachshunds. I have two adult children and one precious 22 month old grandson.
I'm a disaster volunteer for the Red Cross and have been a photographer on disasters for the last 3 or 4 years. Sometimes I get into the disasters before the rest of the Red Cross. It's interesting, scary, sad, and sometimes awkward. I'm not sure how to discreetly take pictures of tragedy. Any advice on how to do that would be great. I teach forensic science so I'm no stranger to difficult situations. But my favorite subject is my grandson. My silly dogs run away at the sight of a camera, but my grandson will look at me and say "Cheese!" I use an original Canon Rebel. It needs to be replaced, but it's still doing Ok. Looking forward to becoming part of this community. |

Stumbled on this website yesterday and have already learned a few things just by reading some of the posts. I got my first digital camera ( a Fuji Finepix S5100) about 7 years ago and have recently purchased my first DSLR ( Canon 40D).
I love photography and would like to shoot weddings or maybe portraits professionaly in the future. I can dream, Can't I ? I still have a lot to learn and am looking forward to the input and new friends I will meet on this site. Wendy |
