Smile Hello all

Hello all

I am Mainak,30, a geologist working in the petroleum industry in Mumbai, India. I have shot photographs with a Powershot for the last 5 years, and recently bought a 450D; earlier also used p&s film camera for 6-7 years.

I know the basics of the techniques, and now want to try at good compositions. I like landscape and macro photography, and looking forward to participating here.

Default Student

Hello,

My name is Lian. I am a student in New York City, so many photography opportunities, which is why I love to walk [anywhere]. I am currently using a Nikon Coolpix camera. To my dismay, that's all I have. For three weeks I got my hands on an Olympus SLR... ashamed to say it's a lot harder to use than I imagined, and the small one works out better.

Picked up the camera enthusiastically since it was bought for me in 2003 and I absolutely love capturing people's emotions and conversations. Almost every picture I recall what was being discussed, the time, the occasion and everyone's name. For the love of photography I experiment a lot and snap almost everything, when someone asks what it was or why that angle I feel accomplished.

Stephen Johnson [www.stephenjohnson.net] is the closest I have come to wanting to furthering my interest professionally on a personal level while I attended a talk hosted by [http://www.meetup.com/NYPhoto/] a meetup group called New York City Photography.

I am interested in what makes a picture intrinsically more attractive over another. Looking forward to learning from you all and attempting to give positive feedback.

Thank you,

Lian

Default well here I am

Hi, I'm Greg, 45 (dont groan), have been into photography most of my adult life but for varying reasons took a 'sabattical' for the last 10 years or so, gone digital now so I dont have to beg the wife for the printing money any more!
Have 2 kids (adults now) and 2 dogs which are now my models if I can get them to sit still long enough, hope to learn a bit here and hope to post some pics soon.
I have my private pilots licence but its a bit hard taking pics and flying at the same time, who knows perhaps I might be able to take someone out for a fly over syd harbour for some high alt shots sometime (I guess I should mention I am in syd australia)!

Default Hi!

My name is Joann aka missjoladie. I'm new to photography. Just got a Canon Powershot Pro 1 for $100 earlier this year. Great little camera and for the price even better.

I'm currently taking a digital photography class in a local college.

Looking forward to learning from you all.

My name is Dov and I live and work in and around New York City. I have only recently become very interested in photography, no more than 6 months ago. I own a Canon Digital Rebel XSi and recently purchased the EF 50mm f/1.8 II which I love. I am still learning and absorbing any new information I can find to apply to my shots. I read about an idea of taking a picture a day for a year on www.photojojo.com and thought it was brilliant, so that is what I have been doing since 2/2/09 and the set can be found on Flickr at http://www.flickr.com/photos/idoverm...7613329246226/.

Hi!

I'm Alouis (AL-OH-WEES). I live in Canada and have had a passion for photography for life. I seem to have an addiction. I just can't seem to put it down. I took 600 pictures in a span of three days on a casual vacation. And almost all of the pictures turned out great, in automatic setting! Now I've wanted to continue with professional photography so I have started taking lessons and then came across this FREE site!! I can't believe it. This is all free? No catch? No strings attached? Pretty cool Darren. Thanks for putting this together! I'm really impressed and can't wait to share this site with many of my friends. You can tell your passionate about what you do and about this site and I love your quick attention to everything. Very personable!

I'm excited to be on board!

Default Hello

I am Marius from Cape Town in South Africa. All my life i have been snapping pictures, but only recently acquired a Digital SLR and realised how much there is to learn. I am keen on learning more about the technical side and the different styles/fields of photography.

Hi. I'm homebrew and I've recently re-picked up the photography bug after having it for a while in the early 2000s and then taking a break. My reintroduction was the fun I had taking bird pictures during the NYC Audobon's annual Christmas bird count. Some new equipment, some practice and I'm ready for spring! I'm a little bit of a sad panda right now because I finally grew some guts and posted just a few photos online for the first time hoping for some help and feedback and didn't get any, but I'll keep trying.

Outside of the photography thing, I brew my own beer, occasionally try to get out on the golf course, do some hiking and camping in the area and watch the New York Jets find new ways to collapse. I work in the financial industry, at least as of the close of the market today, and I want out because it's been irrational literally since before Alan Greenspan's "irrational exuberance" speech and is now completely off the rails the other way. Irrational despondency is even worse than irrational exuberance.

Hello from Ohio. I just found this place today and can't wait to jump in and learn more about photography. I just completed an 8 week course taught by a professional photographer at our local technical college.
I've had a Nikon Coolpix 4300 point and shoot for FOREVER but now I have my BIG GIRL camera and am ready to learn all I can.
Nice to be here!
