Hello,
My name is Curtis and I live in Pennsylvania U.S.

I've always liked looking at nicely done photos but never thought I could do it myself. That has changed recently and I'd like to take some of those awsome shoots I see. I am an avid reptile keeper. I mainly keep snakes but venomous and not. My main goal is to be able to get great and beautiful shots of the animals I keep. This will involve me learning macro photography. I just found this site a few days ago and have already learned a lot. This is a great resource.

Currently I have 3 cameras. I have been taking photos on a sony cybershot point and shoot for a few years, but I have 2 DSLR's. I have a Canon D30 w/ kit lens and a Canon XSi w/ kit lens. I have only just got my first DSLR 3 weeks ago so I'm still learning that as well.

Hello Everyone!, I'm Trish.

I am also lost on how to do things around here. Very new to the site, and find it extremely interesting, but have yet to learn to navigate everything. Like, there were tips for beginners on the front page, and now I can't find them again. I need to work my way through them all!

At one time, a few life times before this one, I was very much into photography. I was luck enough to work with a photomeister in Germany for a little while, and used to do developing and know my way around my camera. But as time has moved on, so has my memory, so I'm essentially new to it all. I've always had a camera, but now, with the loss of my job, I'm wondering if there's any chance for me to make a living with my camera...but the challenges of learning it all are a bit daunting, to say the least.

Is ISO what ASA was on my old Pentax Spotmatic F film camera? I had one till a babysitter stole it from me back in Tacoma, WA. Now I have my Sony Cybershot (which I have had about five years), and today my new (used) Pentax K10D arrived with a Tamron A17P, a Phonix 0.25X Super Fish Eye, and the last one I could get (before I ran out of $$) a Pentax 28 mm. So far I've gotten a couple shots in focus.

In the time I don't spend looking for a new job, I plan to spend every moment trying to learn this camera and the ropes enough to do animal, portrature, stock or wedding photography, especially the business end of things (I'm not very business oriented). I also hope to get good enough shots to enter competitions. So, this site has so much information to offer someone like me. I'm thrilled to find it, thankful it is offered, and determined to become a craftsperson at photography by hook or by crook. My grandfather was a hobby photographer. I have some of the old equipment that was his, but unfortunately, not the Hasselblad my grandmother gave away a few years back.

Anyway, I do go on, so will step back in the background for now, and will see ya'll around.

Take care,
Trish

Hello All-

My name is Irina, and I live in NY (Queens). I really enjoy photography and recently purchased the Canon Xsi w/kit lens. I am hoping to hone my knowledge of my hobby I don't believe I would ever turn it into something I can make $ off of...too scared, LOL. From what I hear, I have a "good eye", but I unfortunately, I do not have the technical knowledge. I just shoot. With good results

So here I am, happy to have found this place! I am a mother of twin boys, and I work full time, which means that I do not have time to take any classes (perhaps down the road...), so I am looking forward to utilizing the information on this site.

Looking forward to being an active member

Hi all,

I'm Izzy. I've been lurking for a while but I thought I should finally come out and say hi.

I've always had a fascination for photography, with my first camera being an Exakta from "the old country" given to me by my dad when I was 12. It was old and completely manual so it forced me to learn a few of the basics.

Eventually I progressed to a Nikon 20/20, and then to a Nikon D70. Recently I made the move up to a D700 - a beautiful camera that my skills don't yet give justice to! Which is what brings me to this forum. I'm amazed at the skills of the members and the vast wealth of knowledge available on this forum! It has reignited my passion for this little hobby of mine; I hope to one day exhibit the same level of talent of the photographers on this board!

Practise, practise, practise...

Cheers,

Izzy

I have been a member for a while and thought I would explain that I can not contribute a lot in the way of uploads/new threads since we have dial-up service in an area where there are no high speed lines and the download speed is usually around 4k. Uploading is even slower and the frustration inversely proportionate, which means photos take forever, leading to thoughts of hardware destruction. Have never measured the upload speed. I enjoy seeing what others are doing and particularly enjoy the tutorials. Just thought I would post this -- hate the word, lurking. Will post pictures when I can and wait for new telephone lines to installed in our area.

Hello!

My name's Anna, I live in London in the UK. I've had my D40 since November and absolutely love it.

I initially bought it to take photos of my daughter growing up, but am addicted and snapping everything now
