Default Introduction :)

Hi all
First of all, it's a huge honor for me to be able to join DPS. Yippeee..
And sorry for my bad English

My name is Erwin Suryana. I'm originally from Indonesia. I'm going 26 this year on August 6th.
I have a huge interest in digital photography since 5 days ago Yes... it came to me suddenly when I was walking around at electronic store, i passed by a camera store... I look around and I asked about Canon 1000D (wowww....). Since then, I'm hypnotized by photography.
I browsed around on internet to find a low priced Canon 1000D
Also I asked my friends who become a photographer, which one should I choose (between 450D and 1000D) and they all said the same thing... Yup... 450D... Awww... 450D alot more expensive than 1000D... But my friends told me not to buy a cheap one but buy a good one so I don't dissapointed.. What you guys think? Should I choose 450D or 1000D ?
Since I don't have any experiences in DSLR photography... None at all... I have a Canon Ixus (forgot what type) 3 / 4 MP (forgot also)...
I'm an amateur who willingly to learn from your expertises

Please help me to choose between 1000D and 450D... Considering quality and long-term use. I don't want to be dissapointed of buying an expensive camera
And what equipments should I buy beside camera with standard lens (Canon 18-55mm IS) : [please correct me if I'm wrong or not necessarily to buy]
> camera bag (what brand and type)
> tripod (should I buy this?)
> LCD protector
> lens cleaner kit (what brand and type)
> UV filter (what brand and type -> since I will use Canon 18-55mm IS)
> memory card (what size and brand)
> spare battery (should I buy this?)
> lens hood (should I buy this? if yes, what brand and type -> since I will use Canon 18-55mm IS) --> what is the use of lens hood?

Nice to meet you all and thanks... It's good to be here...

Warmest regards,

Erwin Suryana

Hi! My name is Steve Gray. I live near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in the USA.

I've been doing photography off and on for many years, but I've only gotten really serious in the past year or two, with the purchase of my digital gear. I joined DPS to learn some new things, as well as to share some of what I have learned.

My gear: Canon 40D and Canon 5D, a small battery of lenses (mostly L glass), an array of flashes, and a pile of accessories, including light modifiers and pocket wizards.

Hello everyone!
Alright, so my name is Jonathan and I reside in the suburban area of Los Angeles. I've been interested with photography for a while now after going through many different Point & Shoot Cameras, 35mm cameras, and box cameras .

I'm trying to get more involved in photography and I love the idea of these assignments! I will be posting, even though i'm NOT a forum kind of person.

I use a Canon 350D also known as the Rebel XT, with a 28-80mm lens (f/3.5-5.6).

Anyway, see everyone around!

Default Hello!

My name is Dee.

I'm new to photography. I mean, REALLY new. I purchased my D90 in late October and it's my first 'real' camera. I'm hoping to learn a lot here. I live in VA, so if anyone's interested in getting together to shoot, please contact me.

Hi!
I'm Liz from Germany. I got my first "real" camera, a Nikon D40, last May and have been practising with it ever since.
I try to be open to all kinds of topics and photographic styles and to not get too comfortable in one area. There's still so much to learn for me, that I don't want to limit my experiences in the first place.
My favourite lens at the moment is my 50mm f1.8 lens. I've decided to practice more framing techniques with it and so I've used it extensively the lasts weeks. I also have a 18-200mm Sigma lens for travelling. I like it, because I only have to carry that one lens, but for my taste it's almost a bit soft for some situations.

After I've heard about this forum on Couchsurfing, I started to take a look around and registered rather quickly. I feel that this is great and will give lots of inspiration as well as technical tips. I already love the weekly assignments...

Well, I hope to meet a lot of new friends here and I'm sure I will learn a lot!

Liz
