My name's Kylie, i'm from Sydney, Australia.
I am a Stay At Home Mum of 3 children, who sparked my interest again in photography. I've always loved taking photos, but since my husband bought me a Canon 1000D D-SLR i find i have the camera in my hands any spare moment i can get.

I've always thought about photography as a profession, but being a stay at home mum, and having a husband that works late hours... it hasn't given me many opportunities to chase the dream. Circumstances are slowly starting to change, and so now i'm able to think more seriously about starting some courses. But in the meantime i'd love to learn what ever i can from DPS, and hopefully give something back as well. And as an added bonus, i'd love to make some new friendships along the way.

I have only just started uploading current photos to my Flickr account... but would appreciate any kind of creative criticism if you happen to take the time to check them out.

My other passions are photo manipulation, and making forum signatures.
Please feel free to also check these out.

Hello,
My name is Sheri McFarland. I live in Northeast Ohio, USA. Although I have taken many many photos of my family and vacations ect (and have posted hundreds of them on blogs for my scattered family to enjoy) I know very little about photography. I have learned to edit and manipulate the pictures that I take with Paint Shop Pro, but my photography skills have been limited to using automatic settings. I would like to change that and dig in to learn. I am starting out with an inexpensive bridge camera where I will gradually learn to take off the training wheels. :-) I just got my FujiFilm S2000HD (an advanced zoom camera) on Monday, 1/05/09. I enjoy looking at everyone's photography here, and the things I have read here are very informative. Thank you for putting this site together for people like me to begin in the wonderful medium of digital photography!

My new Flickr photostream

Update:
I just purchased my very first DSLR camera. I got a Pentax Kx (red). It is on its way and due to be delivered tomorrow. I just can barely stand to wait until tomorrow! I'm taking digital imaging (PhotoShop) at my local community college and next semester I plan to get into the very popular and high demand digital photography 1 class (even if I have to go early on sign up day and be first in line.)

I purchased a pocket camera for my birthday last June, a Sony CyberShot DSC-W370 14.1MP Digital Camera with 7x Wide Angle Zoom with Optical Steady Shot Image Stabilization and 3.0 inch LCD (Green). I love this little camera for on the spot pictues when I am out, but I am so anxious to learn how to really shoot good pictures with my new DSLR.

Hello my name is John, I'm from the Mid West.
I am a Network Systems Administrator, with a wife and 3 children, I was a Navy Combat Photographer for 13 years, I was out of Photography for 10 years, burnt out... with the children I started getting back into it, I was strictly a film guy, but I'm getting used to using a digital camera, it is a lot cheeper than shooting film...

I have always loved photography and I'm just looking around and maybe I will be able to help, and get pointers in portrait photography, the Navy didn't allow for much creativity in portraits.

I have only just started uploading current photos to my Flickr account... but would appreciate any kind of creative criticism if you happen to take the time to check them out.

Thanks
John

My name is Scott & I've been shooting photos since the late 60's. I currently use a Nikon D70s but still have all of my older film gear including TLR's RF's & 3 different camera systems of which I have the most in Nikon (including 64 lenses)...I use my older manual focus lenses on my DSLR as well as newer AF glass. My niche is Macro although I do a bit of everything..Any time I can contribute to a discussion, I will...

Hello to everyone My name Dawn Allynn, and I live in New Mexico, in the mountains near Albuquerque. I've been doing photography (in a serious fashion) for about six years now, started out doing it as snapshot for a job I worked for and progressed obsessively through the last few years to doing everything from portraits to weddings, and from landscapes to food photography. My favorite subject is people, and I enjoy most doing the dramatic. I have just begun to really start making a decent income on my work, and have high hopes that it will one of the days be a very good living. I currently have two Canon XTi's and about six lenses (buying one lens just leads to wanting another lens though... doesn't it? The desire for more never ends...) and I have a fairly decent set of studio lights a tripod I love dearly, and other various pieces of equipment.

I really love interaction with other photographers, and I am of the mind that there is always something to learn or share. Looking forward to doing both here

Default Introduction

A short introduction might be a good idea:

I am Michael, 46 years old, living with my wife and 9 years old son in a village close by Heidelberg in Germany.

I am interested in photography since my apprenticeship which I passed in a printshop as "Reproduktionsfotograf" - maybe the correct translation is "reproduction photographer" - working with big Klimsch reprocameras and later on LinotypeHell scanners.
Helluva nice job this was, but disappeared nowadays.

Nevertheless, the fun I have with photography remains and this hobby brought me a new hobby which is (post)processing and retouching the shots with my MacMini, Lightroom and Photoshop.

Currently shooting with a Canon G9.

I want to learn from you guys and share the (little) knowhow I'm having.

Best regards from Germany

Michael

Opps! Didn't see this thread and started a new thread introducing myself. I hope the moderator can move it here.

Here's what I wrote there:

Hi: I'm Rusty Sterling and I'm a newbie to this forum but not to photography. I'm 60 and I worked for 15 years as a double-threat man for newspapers (combo reporter/photojournalist). I've been away from it for awhile but I've been feeling the itch to shoot again.

I still have my film gear: Nikon FE2 with Nikkor 55mm, Vivatar 28-85 macro zoom, Vivatar 70-210 zoom. But I don't use the Nikon much these days.

I also have a Konica-Miranda A2 that I've used the last couple of years and gotten some nice shots.

For P&S I use a Sony DSC-S60, which has given me some nice shots.

My main rig is a Canon 40D with Canon 28-135mm zoom, Canon 100-300mm zoom, and Sigma 10-20mm wide zoom. This rig is fairly new to me but I'm loving the images that I'm getting.

I've been lurking on this site for about a month now and love some of the shots I've seen. Lot's of very talented shooters here.

Looking forward to hanging here.
