Hi everyone.
My name is Paul, I’m was born in Liverpool and I now live in London.
I’ve only had a point and shoot camera until now, just bought my first dslr. So this is all a bit new to me but I’m loving experimenting with my new camera. Any help and criticism would be welcomed.
I’ve always loved taking pictures and sharing them with friends and family. I set up my own website this year to make it easier to share my photographs.

Default My New Love

Hi, my name is Mel from San Diego. I have two wonderful boys. My friend let me borrow his Nikon D60 so I can shoot the kids during a soccer game. I was hooked after using it. What have I been for missing all these years??

I've caught the photography bug! I bought myself a Canon Xsi for starts and just purchased a Tamron 180-270mm (superzoom lens) which I like a lot.

There's so much too learn and so much gear to get! Trying to keep a realistic budget. This is more expensive that golf.

Anyways, I love what I see so far in the site and the weekly newsletter. I am learning each day.

Thanks and hello from San Diego!

Wow Paul. Beautiful site and amazing pictures. Very inspiring work! What tools did you use to set up your site? I want to create a personal website, primarily just for sharing pics.
Thanks.

Mel

Default Finally!

Hey everyone!... My name is Pablo, I was born in England, but grew up in Chile, I think i've always had an interest in photography, however, when i finished highschool I opted to study Video editing, and audiovisual comunication. At the time, that didn't cut it for me, so when i was 20 i decided to leave and travel the world (wich i've been doing ever since).
This really inspired me to start taking more photos, however, when you are on "the road" you got a decide between new gear or a new destination, and I usually picked up the second option.
Now 28, I've been in Ireland for about a year, and finally got my first DSLR!... a Canon 40D and really happy with it. I'm just learning how to use it so i need all the tips i can get!!!
Thanks very much!

Default Intro

Hi

I'm Rob and I live just north of London, England.

I've taken snapshots for years but really want to learn more about composition and good photography. Trying to come to terms with balancing apertures, shutter speeds, ISO, etc.!!

I like to see and be inspired by others' work, so places like Flickr and this site are ideal for that.

My main camera is currently a Fujifilm Finepix S9600. I also have a Canon Powershot A570 IS for those compact moments. And when I forgot both of them I can sometimes kindly borrow a Minolta Dimage Z1.

Well that's it for an intro I guess!!

Rob

Hello all,
My name is Debbie and I live in Greater LOndon/Kent borders. Loved photography as a child but simply couldn't afford the processing costs. Then came marriage and children and you know how it is. Anyway children are no longer toddlers so got my first DSLR a wonderful Nikon D60. Now I know many don't think much of them but I love her and she was within my small budget. Am finding all the stuff to learn a bit mental but enjoying watching my work change and evolve. I do alot of nature photography and landscape (which really means I love shooting tree's and leaves). Anyhoo thats me, hello all

Red face Hi.

My name is Anthony and I live in Plainfield Indiana with my girlfriend and her son. My entire adult life I have owned a digital camera and have since accumulated over 10,000 pictures! I have always had a great deal of interest in taking pictures and photography, but have only recently began to take a serious interest in composition and the finer aspects of photography.

My first DSLR camera was a Nikon D60 with the standard 18-55mm kit lens. It lasted a few months until we went on a canoe trip and the camera took an unexpected swim! Oh well, lesson learned. I was very satisfied with the performance and quality of pictures we got from the camera so we are now waiting on our next D60 to get here. Hopefully next week!

I have a wide range of photographic interest, but the two that come most naturally to my are landscape and abstract photography. I hope to learn a great deal from this website, and improve my skills drastically!

Thankfully my girlfriend has a serious interest in photography, so I intend on getting her to sign up here as well.

Looking forward to learning a lot from all the members here!

Default Greetings Darren & everyone in DPS!

I'm new here but not new to photography. I worked for a fairly large circulation newspaper as a staff photographer for 18 years.

I left the industry 4 years ago. These days I freelance, teach and I'm Mr. Mom. DPS is a great resource for me when I teach.

I find common questions that beginners have and I include them in my lessons.

It's more real world than the usual text book approach: this the shutter speed dial, the aperture setting etc.

I write a blog on photography which I also tailor to my students.

Thanks for creating this great community Darren!
