Hey there,

Just joined last night and thought a proper intro would be in order...

I live in Wilmington, DE and work in Philadelphia. I find Philly one of the most photogenic places I've ever been and try to sneak a few hours shooting where & when I can, without stranding my wife with our three kids for too long.

I've had some success as a photographer using my Sony H5, with a gallery opening (One sale! To my Dad... ) and some work photographing fashion, through a former intern at my work. I recently lucked out and was chosen to shoot some employees at my work in conjunction with my company's 25th Anniversary website. (I find doing things for free sometimes provides leads for other things...)

That said, I recently got a Sony A100 and am thoroughly overwhelmed by it and look forward to spending some time shooting, learning the manual and doing some assignments here. Must. Stop. Using. Auto.

Things I like shooting... my youngest son, IR, macro & night time smears... hoping to broaden my horizons here.

Have a great day!

Hello,

I am Mike From Hermitage Tennessee. I am a rookie at photograph at best. My “real job” is in Workers’ Compensation insurance.

I found my way to the site by searching for pictures taken by a 50mm lens. I am new to the DSLR world but hope to study up here and better my skills. I like to shoot motorsports, cars, nature, and portraits.

Last fall I went to a Canon 40D from an ole Rebel 35mm film camera. I used a Sony point and shoot camera for years but wanted to try my hand and a “better camera”.

NICE site! And I hope to spend more time here.

Default Hi everyone!

Hi everyone, my name is Deanna and I am 25 years old. I live in Michigan and have just started my own photography business to try to make money at my passion - photography! I love photography and have been taking photos for years. I was always the kid that had the camera and was snapping photos, even if family and friends didn't want their photos taken. I have an Arabian mare and have many albums filled with her pictures as she's my first horse. I have many photos of my pets, family and friends in albums scattered throughout the house as well.
I look forward to talking with and learning from everyone as I am just starting out in the world of professional photography and do have lots of questions and need guidance on some basics with a DSLR as this is the first time I have used one. I have the Canon Rebel XTI and have had it for about a month now. Any and all criticism is greatly appreciated!

Deanna

Hi, I'm Kathy. I live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada...working on immigration stuff so I can finally move and be with my husband in Ohio forever.

I've been into photography since I was a kid. I have always had a camera, and always taken lots of pictures of everything and everyone! I think it started because I felt it was best to be the photo TAKER instead of the subject of the photo I've even been given the name "Auntie Kodak" and it's stuck!

My husband and I bought ourselves a new digital camera as a wedding gift. It's a Kodak EasyShare Z710 which is awesome in "Auto" mode...but I'm interested in learning more and getting brave enough to take it off of "Auto" mode more often! We also are the proud new owners of a Canon Rebel EOS SLR (not digital). I'm here to learn!

Hi,

My name is Ina and I just joined the DPS Forum. I'm from Canberra, Australia.
I've been into Photography since High School but only saved enough to buy a D40 in December last year. I hope to learn more and improve my photography skills.

Default Greetings!

Hello Everyone!

My name is Juan. I live in Silver Spring, MD, USA. I absolutely love photography but I am a begginner. I started reading DPS about a month ago and officially joined last week.

So far I've gotten a lot of extremely useful advice from the site. I think its great that I found a good place where I can get feedback about my pictures and learn from others.

Right now I'm shooting with a Canon Digital Rebel XT w/ Kit Lens and a "nifty fifty" (which I decided to buy after hearing a lot of good things here at the DPS).

I recently started a photo blog (also inspired by DPS). To help me stay motivated, get feedback, and hopefully give a little advice!

http://juansphotoblog.blogspot.com

I'm really excited to learn all I can about photography and I think this site is going to help a lot! I hope that eventually people will be able to learn from me as well!

Thanks!

Default An introduction after lurking a while.

Hi everyone:

I have been lurking around the site and have enjoyed recieving updates via email. I thought I better introduce myself before deciding to post.

My name is Pam Dalllaire from Timmins, Ontario, Canada and I am an Impressionist wildlife and landscape painter. I have used friends photos as reference photos in my art and then decided that I need to take my own reference photos. Which makes me a complete beginner to the camera but I understand the concepts of composition, and everything else that goes along with the ART of creating a good image. I just have to figure out how to make the camera see what I want it to see.

I have a Lumix DMC-FZ7 and it suits me for the time being.

I look forward to discussing the art of photography.

Pam

Default Hi!

Hi, my name is Kristy, and I am a navy wife, photographer as a hobby. I'm 27, and we currently reside in Virginia. The navy says to. Haha. I'm here in hope of learning a few more things about photography and improve myself. I appreciate all the information in advance.

Default The Latest Newbie

Hello! (Whoa, there's an echo in here)

My name is Josh and I live in Southern California. I've been taking pictures for a long time but I've never known what I was doing.

I've recently started a few new outdoor hobbies and have taken my Sony DSC-V3 with me. I'm into geocaching which takes me to many interesting places. I have a blog where I post my geocaching stories and photos. Some photos have surprised me and I like them so I created a photo blog to put those separately.

I'm looking forward to learning what all those settings other than "auto" do on my camera. I also like the idea of assignments to get me out looking for different things and trying new techniques.

Looking forward to learning from all of you.
