PaulPerry Hi Paul, welcome to DPS! I used to do b&w darkroom work, too, but that equipment is gathering dust! Noticed you joined our assignments thread; those are some nice shots you posted. Hope to see more.

Ben.D.Geidfran Hi Ben! Another 400D owner. It's a popular camera around here; I have one, too. Hope we're able to inspire you topost some of your shots.

Hi everybody,

my name is Martin. I am from South Africa. Just bought my first SLR Nikon D40x with a 18-55 3.5-5.6 DX lens. I am not new to photography, have been using point and shoots my whole life. By the way, I am 27. Came across this site. Excellent site David.

I have learned a lot about photography and have to learn more. I am taking my photography serious now and love reading your comments and tips.

Hello peoples, add me to the list of the 1000s of newbies lol. I came across this brilliant site on a reading journey. I love the tips and articles provided. I learned so much already by just reading for the past three weeks or so. I figured I'd join the forum as well.. sounds like fun. Oh and the weekly assignment thing caught my eye!

Well I'm from Trinidad, that's in the Caribbean. I used an Advanced Point and Shoot for two years and finally got the 400D about three months ago and it couldn't have been better. I mainly do motorsport photography, but I'm broadening my horizons, of which I already know a thing or two but still learning.

That's about it for me.. my shutter finger is twitching again.

Default Hi

Hi, everyone!

I'm Janet, from eastern Ohio, USA. I've always enjoyed doing artistic things and really got interested in photography in the later years of my life about the time the Nikon 900S came out (my first digital camera). Several cameras have followed that one, the most recent being a Canon DSLR 30D. I have several lenses - 100mm f2.8 macro; 135mm f2L; 85mm f1.8; 28-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS; 50mm 1.8; and EF 18-55mm f3.5-5.6, and a few accessories. I carry a Sony DSC H2 and a Fuji FinePix F30 with me everywhere I go - you just never know when a photo op might present itself. Some of the technical aspects of photography are still puzzling to me but I'm having FUN and hope to learn by my mistakes. Eventually some of it will sink in.

I started a little photoblog at
http://inmyownbackyard-janet.blogspot.com/
You're welcome to stop by and see what I've been up to in the photography world.

I'm looking forward to sharing and learning with you all.

JanetB Welcome to DPS Forums. You'll have no problem learning the technical stuff! We here are DPS definitely make learning fun and more than that EASY!
We all have different levels of expertise and strengths and weaknesses. Which is the great thing....If I don't know something you can guarantee that someone else does or vice versa. So start reading up and asking questions....whatever it may be.

Default Greetings from central Illinois

Hi,

My name is Mark and I guess I'd classify myself as a photo hobbyist. I make my living working with computers not a camera. But that does not stop me from wanting to improve and grow. I use a Canon 40D and Rebel XT.

I enjoy photographing sports, musical events, school events, landscapes and my family.

You can click on the links in my signature to see some of my work if interested.

Default Me Guy McLaren

Live in Deepest darkest Africa, over on the South Eastern end. We have lions and elephants and stuff to delight the camera and the person behind it. My dream is to catch a cheetah on the hunt, but will settle for Lion or leopard.

I love taking pics of the little creatures like geckos lizards frogs chameleons as well as the big fellas. I plan to organise a photographic safari about once a month and introduce people to the exotic opportunities available here in the Mpumalanga region of South Africa.

Opportunities like this are not uncommon where I shoot, Visit my site lowveldnet.co.za and check out the galleries

I'll tell you this, Trinidad is a lovely place and there are tons of interesting, beautiful and historical places and things to photograph. Some places you can just openly shoot and that's fine. But there's a small factor, which turns out to be quite large. And it's the crime. It's just not safe to patrol certain parts of the country with a large camera around your neck, even with a few friends accompanying you. I would love to go boldly into the heart of the towns and openly shoot interesting characters and buildings etc., but safety is a huge issue. And if I lose my camera, I would break down into tears lol. (Seriously)

Hi, my name is Ben, I currently live in Bonn Germany, but I am from Laconia, New Hampshire, in the US, My wife Amanda, and I move alot, about every six months for her job, so I get lots of chances to see new things that I want to get pictures of, I tend to take way too many shots, and just by pure luck end up with anything good, I am working my way though all the tutorials on this great site, and finally after 4 years of ownership playing with my PASM setting on my Kodak DX 6490, wich I would love to upgrade soon to a DLSR. I look forward to using all the great info here to help me actually be able to see a good picture before I upload them onto my mac!
