Dinner was over twelve hours ago and it was tom yum gai (soup), tamarind fish curry, cabbage leaf mallung, and curried beans. I live in Sri Lanka, married into a Sri Lankan household, so Sri Lankan cuisine is quite prominent on the menu. Happily, except for the brain and innard curries, it's all quite excellent.

Today will be my chicken 63, which is a sort of devilled chicken (it's been marinating). Not sure what kind of vegetables I'll be currying - haven't got that far yet.

Nicole needs to chime in on this one. She's always cooking something up.

I'm not sure about the washing machine icon, as that's a new one on me. But, if you don't already know how to make it, spaghetti or really most pasta dishes are fairly easy to make. I'm sure you could figure something like this out. It just depends on how picky you really are about certain things.

Search the internet for recipes. I'm not sure if Campbell's Soup and Pillsbury baked goods are things that are sold in the UK, but they both have websites with easy recipes that take their products. Kraft does too. If there's a popular brand of something, they most likely have a website of recipes. Not to mention, just looking at websites like Allrecipes.com - recipes, menus, meal ideas, food, and cooking tips. and Food Network - Easy Recipes, Healthy Eating Ideas and Chef Recipe Videos can give you simple meals just by looking in the right categories. I don't like fussy food. I'm not a gourmet kinda person. I don't like it when my food has so many different flavors all mashed into one. I'm cool with the texture part of all cooking, but having 5 really different tastes just for one side dish is annoying to me. I like simple, but tasty. If your the same, then easy recipes might be a good way to start. Look for things like 5 ingredients or less recipes. Those are usually quick and easy.

Good luck on your cooking journey. There are plenty of women ( and maybe some men too ) here that can help you. My husband's Grandmother always said "If you can read, you can cook."

I ate out. I'm on contract, living in a hotel for 6 months, sans wife and kids. All my eating is expensed away. That being said, I had a chicken/spinach/gruyere crepe from a hole-in-the-wall, and it was without a doubt the most delicious thing I have ever eaten ever. For dessert, I had a mille-feuille (sometimes called a napoleon, although it resembles neither an emperor nor a cannon), which is my favorite dessert of all time. This was the best mille-feuille I'd ever had, and the crepe was better than that. Damn, but it was good.

For bachelor living, crepes are relatively easy, kinda like omelettes. Vegetables are optional. Find some recipes online.

My family & I went up the road to a friends place where we had Saturday night BBQ, steak, sausages, burgers, salads etc. Would've taken pics but, too late.

Washing machine - my first thought was RTFM! Do you still have it? Otherwise take a photo of the icon and share it here, I'm sure we can figure it out. Given the sequence it sounds like the rinse stage.

Fillet steak with garlic, cream and mushroom sauce, served with runner beans and steamed new potatoes topped with butter and parsley and served with a glass of Prosecco... lol
