Hello everyone,
My name is Carlos and i have a question about a project i am looking to do. I have been a realtor for about 8 years now. The think i like about my job is that i get to meet different kinds of people. I recently enrolled in school and i am taking photography classes. Well, to get to the point. A few years back i met a family, which i helped get into a homes. The family consists of about 15-18 members. They came from Burma, which is is close to Thailand. As refugees, they came to the U.S for better job opportunities and to get away from the troubles they were going through. I would like to do a family shoot of their culture, way of living and possibly get some info on their history. I am trying to find the best way to ask them, if it will be ok with them to do a "documentary" you may say, on them. Has anyone ever done one of these projects/assignments? Your comments and input would be really appreciated.

Can't you just tell them you're a photographer interested in studying other cultures and ask for their participation? I can't see how they would take offense to that.

Thank for the reply. I will consider that and ask them if they dont mind me documenting their culture.
