Default Resolution (Nebie)

This is my first post here at this site. I just bought a Nikon Coolpix S100 but I also have a Fuji 2550 which I'm trying to take some pictures with for my house inventory. I wanted nice clear pictures but the higher my resolution the less clear my pictures. Is this normal? So I just fool around with the setting until I got what I wanted which was medium resolution at 4:3 because it's just inventory and I'm using my macro with no flash. I sure have a lot to learn and that's why I'm here.

Welcome Richard I'm a newbie here too (this is my 7th post) and also a complete beginner so I guess we're in a similar situation. I'm afraid I can't answer your question though but I'm sure there will be plenty who can. Just wanted to say hi

4:3 sounds more like your aspect ratio and not the resolution. Some cameras allow you to shoot in 4:3, 3:2, etc. aspect ratios, which is the ratio of the width to the height of an image. There should be another setting for the picture quality. In my Canon, if I set it to "Fine," that was the highest quality setting. You should also use the highest megapixel setting if you are going to make any enlargements.

Default Aspect Ratios

[QUOTE=Krusty79;1377377]4:3 sounds more like your aspect ratio and not the resolution.

Yes that is my aspect ratio and I usually shoot at 16:9 so it fills up my computer screen but these were just inventory so I put it down to 4:3. I'm hand holding my camera and when I use 12 meg which is my max on my camera it wasn't quite as clear as when I drop my resolution down a notch. I never make hard copies of my pictures. I know I don't need high resolution on inventory but Maybe it's just me but though I would ask.
