"Practical...yet alluring--I'll take it!"

So said Homer Simpson when he stumbled upon the idea of getting Marge panty hose as the perfect Christmas present on a budget. Yes, they are practical, and ahem, alluring (to Homer). But rarely does a great gift meet both those criteria, right?

That's my conundrum right now. I'm listening to the devil in one ear, urging me to buy the big Kahuna Canon L series lens I desire for sports--but am stopped by the little angel in the other ear, pushing me toward and all-in-one superzoom that will make travel shots with my family SO much easier. I loathe stepping down in possible quality, but there is no denying a superzoom's practicality when you are doing the "travel and tour" thing with the fam.

Practical versus Alluring. Anybody else ever feel this way?

- the way i see it, as a reward for being family-aware and getting the super zoom you treat your self to the other, makes perfect sense.

All the time.. I've had to hold myself back on a ton of stuff.. Question is, are either of these on special? If not, buy the practical, and save up for the alluring. If alluring is on special, buy that instead.. You don't need to have everything today, and ayway, when you have saved up for the alluring, you might find that there's a more alluring one available
