Default Holy ISO Batman!!

Nikon D4 specs: 16.2MP, 11 fps, 102,400 native ISO, XQD memory card | Nikon Rumors

"100-102,400 native ISO range, expandable to 50 and 204,800"

WHAT?! That's five stops higher than my camera!, six with the HI!

Wishful thinking at best. It'll be expanded to 50-102k, CF x2 only. More likely 18mp or so (instead of 16). Video will be good. I dont understand how they're going to implement the two-button aperture control. Seems silly.

I'm not even sure I would want to be able to do that haha. I can't imagine the image quality would be too great way up there... But I guess technology is always advancing... haha

As for the two-button aperture control - I agree. It seems kinda pointless as well, unless I just don't understand what it's supposed to be for?

This is actually the first time I've heard 16: i've heard 24 and 48 (silly) but the vast majority have been 18mp

With video, aperture "zooming" can have a cool effect of isolating the subject.

The ISO is no different to the new Canon 1Dx on H2

It makes a lot of sense if the D4 is directly competative with the D1x specs, or Nikon are going to lose a lot of customers.. Let's not forget.. Nikon lenses can be made to work on Canon, Canon lenses can't work on Nikon, so Nikon need to better Canon if they're going to keep their customers loyal.

The spec for the Canon 1Dx

How high do you think you'll be able to go with that ISO before the picture is unusable? I know the D7000 is rated to handle noise extremely well and it's really only usable up to around 6,400 (again, info from reviews. I haven't used it yet)

The D7000 is a 16mp crop sensor; the "D4" will be only slightly higher res, but with a sensor just over 2x the size. That's a huge difference when it comes to ISO noise. I dont dare go above 1600 on my D300s, but on a (sadly borrowed) D3 I'd have no problem going to 12 800.

Well that oughta do it hahahaha. I didn't really even think about the difference of sensor sizes.... Always learning something at least
