Default It's cold out!

OK so I just got my first DSLR last week, and managed to get out with it once before it turned cold and snowy (I live in Canada). I want to get some pictures out in the pretty snow, but it is freezing! My hands start to lose circulation pretty quick, but my gloves get in the way of operating the controls. Any other cold weather photographers, how do you keep warm in the snow? I wish I had a studio setup to get my fix indoors in the winter, but that is not in the budget at the moment haha. Is there any type of gloves you can get that still let you work the controls? Or do most of you hibernate for the winter.

My wife is making me these for Christmas, for that reason. Mitten/glove combos exist--you can fold the mitten part back, exposing fingerless gloves--those are pretty much ubiquitous. A hunting/outdoor store (eg: Gander Mountain) probably has thumb/first two fingerless gloves for hunters made out of more modern stuff than basic yarn--I haven't checked though.

You can also check for Dante (devil may cry) cosplay.
