Default Every cloud has a silver lining.........

Long but ultimately happy story.

Today did not start out too well.
Up at 5.30 am to drive about 60 miles to do a job in a factory, product shoot with some "environmental" portraits of the workers. Supposed to be a day long job.

Got there nice and early only to be told by the factory manager "we weren't expecting you today" nothing is set up, some of the people are not going to be here and there is no product or space for you".
Great !!!

Got onto the Marketing Director who had confirmed last night that everything was set. Ooops, seems that the grade A "Richard Head" had not sorted everything out at the coal face end, only cleared it all with the head office !!!!
OK fine, Mr. Head. You do realise that I will be billing you for the day though don't you. Cue argument, threats to cancel and never use me again.

OK fine - I have sent you (and your boss) a copy of the contract with the relevant cancellation and penalty clause highlighted.

Got home, e-mail from said "Richard Head" confirming I will in fact be paid, in fact he is clearing the payment today and giving me two new dates for the shoot. "it would be really great if you could still do it for us (grovel grovel)".

After pratting around on pc for an hour decided to call a client who I was going to shoot tomorrow to see if they could do it today.
Yeah no problem Andy.
Client is just up the road so shot around there. Shoot only took an hour. Great people, fun hours shoot. Whilst doing that one a business next door came in to ask about me doing some stuff for them.

Upshot was all they wanted initially was a few small products done so explained costs etc and ended up doing that one as well.
Also they booked up an all day shoot for next week for their brochure/web and bits and pieces.

So, what looked like being a disaster with no shooting time turned into a very profitable day all in all. Two shoots completed and paid for, cancelled shoot paid for and rebooked and a new client on the books.

Life ain't so bad after all.

Hey, nothing like being paid to work for something twice. Good for you!

Good to see you stuck to your guns while dealing with Mr. Head. I think others may have caved.
