Some Flickr groups are very active outside of Flickr.

From personal experience I know of at least two.

One meets weekly in a pub to chat and set up excursions & shoots. It is a very small group.

The other one has no formal meetings however it uses Flickr to set up shoots, and show results etc.
They are shooting at least once per week (a lot of dawn coastal shoots - with breakfast at a local eatery after) and sometimes have midweek shoots. They also shoot rodeos, landscapes, sport etc.
Broad cross section of photographers, skills, and people but no real beginners. Participating in some of their shoots has certainly opened up my eyes, and improved my photography. Even just seeing how other people work is a learning experience

Normally on the dawn shoots about 12-15 people
Late afternoon/daytime shoots will double that, and special shoots, like a light house being opened up of an evening (for the first time ever) they had 50+

They can be found here:

Newcastle (Australia) is a large (280+ people) coastal (and port) city. If you have a job it is one of the better regions in Australia to live. I have family there.

If you're planning to do any projects in Philadelphia, I'd be interested. Just PM me.

That would do it.

I would be ok with changing Photowalks to Meet-Ups. This should satisfy the needs of the community.

I think it would be cool to have some kind of network. I am trying to get my name out there too, & it's not that easy. Went on a local photo walk & even that's not really great for networking. Most people just kind of went their own way. When we got back to the meet up point, most of the people had already left early.
