Default Huge fail on Flickr security?

Well, browsing through some Flickr images, I have found that even with all rights reserved on so it protects the right click, if you click on the image where you can change the size of the image, right click protection is disabled and allows any picture to be downloaded.

Has this been known?

You do realise it's practically impossible to stop anyone from "getting" your images. Downloading, screenshots, looking through the HTML code for the image URL.

I've noticed it. That's one reason why I only upload low rez and watermark to Flickr.

And what Nick said.

Yeah I know, but the best way is to download. I'm just happy my work isn't that great, so I don't have to worry about people stealing it

Why lo res? I always share my pics with family and friends on there, so I go whatever my camera shot. and I have metadata copyright and also visual one as well.

Low rez so if someone yanks it, and clones out your watermark, they can't do much with it. If they try to blow it up or print it, it'll look like crap.

Not really a security failure, since the only images that are available to download are those that you've made available to view. And since any image you view online is already downloaded to your browser's cache, there's really no sense annoying legitimate users who use right click for a thousand other things besides saving images.

Yeah, I get the feeling it is a bug. Right-click once, get copyright and size dialog; right-click again while the dialog is showing and the normal right-click menu shows. That's unlikely to be intended behavior.

That said, I'll echo everyone else and say if you can see it, you can save it. It might discourage the most computer-illiterate, but anyone who cares to, can and will get around it.

Personally, I debated for a while whether or not to upload the full resolution versions or not. Now that I have a pro account, there's no size limit. I decided to just upload the full resolution versions, and show only the Large version to the public. 1024 x 768...if they want to try to use that for anything serious, then good luck.

I upload @ 750X500 with a watermark. Just right for viewing and sh!t for printing. Basically you can view my images but anything aside from that it is utterly worthless for.
