Smile Camera Repaired!

Yay.. I got my D7000 back from Nikon today.. And now it looks like the focus is Spot on.. I'll take some photos tonight to make sure..

So in order to test my newly perfectly focusing camera, I also received through the post today a Lensbaby Muse Of course that's going to really help with the focussing issues! But who cares, I'm going to go out and play with it, see what kind of wierd photos I can come up with! Critique sections beware!

Wow a D7000 is kind of new to need repairs. What were the problems?

Yes, what was wrong with your D7000? That's what I have my heart set on. I'm glad to hear that Nikon repaired it - for free I assume - but knowing that repair was needed? Not so much.
Overall are you happy with the D7000?

They tweaked the focus point on the camera.. I think when they come out of the factory, occasionally one of them has the sensor slightly misaligned. No problems sending it back, I included a copy of the guarantee and some example photos and the camera came back to me with out problems and without charge.

I was out shooting last night and I zoomed into one of the photos I took and now the lens focuses so well that I need more pixels.. What I mean is that the lens focuses down to pixel level and I'm getting detail even at pixel level.. Now that's quite some adjustment they made, I think I need I need a D3x (Shhh.. Don't tell my poor long suffering wife!)

As for "Should I get one?" Simply.. Yes. I'm VERY happy with this camera. I was irritated by the focus issue, but Nikons guarantee lived up to its name and now it's a superb camera. Compared to the Canon 60D which I briefly tried, and the 7D, I think, for me, this is the superior camera. the 7D is a great camera, but it's more expensive and doesn't add anything to this camera, the 60D, in my opinion, is lacking that feeling of "This is a amatuer/basic pro camera", and feels more like an advanced amateur camera. I like the build quality, and since I shoot in Manual mode regularly, I like the two thumb dials on the front and back of the camera that allow me to adjust the aperture and speed easily without taking my eye from the viewfinder to make sure I have pressed the right button etc. There are a few things lacking, and I'd gladly have swapped the 1080px HD movie mode for a few extras aimed at the photographer, but I can't really tell you what they would have been.

In short, for the price I paid for this camera, I think I got myself an excellent product, and now it's properly adjusted, I'll happily recommend it to anyone.

Oh, and as for the Lensbaby... It's hard work.. Initially I thought I could go and take some shots that resembled ordinary shots that had been "Lensbabied", but the focus is very hit and miss, even with the most agile fingers, you need about 20 of them, ha ha, I can imagine myself on the floor contorted like a chimpanzee working the camera and lens! Certainly I'm going to keep trying with it I think there's probably a knack I haven't picked up yet, and I need to be creative and fit the scene to the Lensbaby, not the other way around, ah, it encourages creativity for sure. I think the Composer (Especially the new one) or the Control Freak would be easier to manage, but I'll stick with the muse for the moment.. See what happens.
