Default Waiting...

I ordered a dSLR on Saturday and now I'm just waiting for it to arrive. I've got plenty of things I could (and should) be doing, but I keep on getting distracted looking up stuff on here.

I suppose it's not a bad thing, I'd gotten kind of frustrated taking photos with my little compact camera because I didn't have control over the things I wanted to be able to control, and now I'm taking loads of pictures with it again. I just want my new camera to be here already so I can start actually learning how to use it.

What's even more frustrating is that the bag my husband has ordered for it will probably be here before the camera, so it'll just be sitting there, taunting me. And I should really be working on an essay right now, but I'm being distracted so not getting a lot of anything done.

Anyone else waiting for something new and shiny? Let's share the pain.

I'm hoping the fact that I've been reading up on DoF & aperture & the like will be useful when I actually sit down and look at the manual because I've got a pretty good idea of what things mean so hopefully it won't be like trying to decipher a foreign language.

We've had lovely weather this weekend but it looks set to get wet and windy from Wednesday onwards, which is when I'm hoping it'll arrive. And I'll have just gotten my hands on it and should be getting to grips with it when I'll be off next week, helping out with lambing at a local farm. Feeling torn between taking it along and hoping that I might get a nice photo or two and not wanting to take my precious new toy somewhere where I'll be busy and won't get the chance to play with it. We'll see.

It's the Canon 1000D with the 18-55mm and 75-300mm lenses. I knew I definitely wanted a Canon because it's what I've always used I like that I can use it to get the hang of what I want to do, then progress to another model later but still be able to keep my lenses.

I'm 99% set on taking my stuff to the farm with me but most of the time I'll just have my little camera in my pocket - I wouldn't be too upset if I got 'lamb juice' on it, haha.

This is quite possibly the most excruciating part of the wait. I've just checked and it's been delivered but I'm at work and it's at home. And we'll only have a couple of hours together tonight before I have to go out.

I'm actually quite glad that I know it's there now because I was actually bidding on lenses on eBay, luckily I didn't win any of them - I haven't actually finished paying for the camera yet.

Oh well, at least it'll give me something to focus on while I'm having my fillings examined at the dentist this afternoon.
