Default Photography Classes

Okay, I took my first class on Monday and loved it and the instructor...this class was in basic lighting. Danielle Watts is the instructor and she is great! She will sit after class and take time to discuss anything you want to ask her about for as long as you wish!

Our next class is Studio Lighting and then it will go from there...the only problem is with the weather the class schedule has gotten screwed up...the first 2 classes were actually cancelled and will be rescheduled...she is trying to get them scheduled as soon as she can!

Each class is only $15.

I have a question though...

Did you take any classes yourselves or did you just learn by practice? Which by the way is her motto...practice, practice, practice!

Both. I took many classes in college.
Classes are good if the instruction is good, if not, then you may not learn anything you couldn't figure out on your own, or online. That said, the best way to learn is to apply techniques you pick up into your daily practice.
I've taken classes in school that were below my skill level and they turned out to be a waste of time.

The learning curve is almost always shorter when some one can show you the way....whether that is an instructor in a classroom or a personal mentor. Then you can experiment with some clue to where you are going...

tht is sawsome that you have a good instructor!

When I was going into Design we had to take a foundation year that has a photo class in it. I took that... then proceeded to graduate from design.

I went back this year to take photography and I'm currently in 1st year.

I'd jump at the chance to take any classes if I were just starting out though. Every little bit helps and it really helps to have some rules enforced into your head.
