reading Strobist has shown me how valuable flash is not only for balancing light, but to make a photo more dynamic.

I agree about strobist. I wish I could find as good a resource for how to just get started using the flash without taking it off the camera yet.

Flash whenever possible. You get better, more controllable dramatic lighting. It of course depends on the application, but for what I like doing at the moment I've been using flash nearly 100% of the time for the past few weeks.

I'd say "Natural Light" 85% of the time - mostly because I hate my on-camera flash, and I don't have any external flashes to play with.

Of course, you also left off the option for "Ghetto Lighting" - which would account for about 10% of my lighting used, and 5% for the on-camera flash.

Yeah, but that still means that you're using natural light more, so it doesn't matter if that option isn't there

I've always been one to rely on natural lighting until recently. While that's still how I do most of my photography, I did dig up my husband's old Quantaray about two weeks ago, and I LOVE it. It is, however, a bit of a clunker - so I don't carry it around with me and therefore only use it for pictures I take at home.

Most definitely natural light, as we have plenty of it here on the Tweed Coast all year round. As yet I don't own an external flash, but would love to experiment with one.

Natural light, all the way. I basically only use a flash if I have too, because I only have a small, on-camera flash. Perhaps if I had nice external flashes, I might find them beneficial...but for now I'll stick with natural light.

I use natural light whenever possible, but its been tough due to the weather and short days (I've only had my camera since the beginning of February) so the flash has been my friend. I seem to use my camera in low-light situations a lot (bars, etc.) Now that the days are getting longer and the weather is warming up I am looking forward to using more natural lighting.

Natural light for me - in So. Cal. it's seems to be sunny all the time. I don't have and external flash for this camera and I hate my tiny built in flash. I either bump up the iso or I use ghetto lighting for my indoor shots. I do have studio lights but I have not had a chance to set them up yet. And I use the big mass of incandescent gas, in the sky, for my outdoor shots.

(jdepould - sorry if I have any grammatical errors )
