Default Dawn of post processing

Hi to all, this is my first post,
I'm an italian follower of DPS, and I like so much this community! I love all your tips and advise, and I ask for some help. My question is pretty simple (at least I hope):

How you know what process needs your photo?
You will set WB, Light, Tone, Colors and other setting as you like, or you follow a more "scientific" process?

Thanks in advance, to all your response.
Regards.

Ps.: sorry for my bad english

I would say it depends on your outlook on photography, a photojournalist would probably only correct colour problems and sharpness, so may well edit white balance and saturation. Other artistic people may well tone the image, it depends what you want from the image... not a great answer im affraid, what is it you are trying to achieve from your processing?

Hi teaking, thanks for reply,
for most of my shots I'm trying to achieve the best process to make the photo close to reality. In some shot I can try to emphasize my daugther face, usually I like sharp and bright iamges...

but I can't figure out, if post processing is totally personal or will be objective

It's whatever YOU want the photo to look like. Each photographer has a different way of editing in post. That's what makes us different. You need to find your style. That's what will seperate you from the rest!

I think everyone does it differently. Post processing establishes a 'style' through the photographers preferences and it is what makes each photographer's work unique, I think.
