Default For the pros...

Which lens would you give up your firstborn for?

OK, ok, that was a little much.

Which lens do you use more than any other lens? Why?

not a "pro", but decades of experience...
I have two in my current kit: 28-80mm f/2.8 (it's an older Tokina ATX-Pro) which is my #1 lens for most everything except wildlife. It's fast, sharp, and has the range I use most often. I find myself using the 60-80 range for a lot of shots....I'd probably use 60-120 for almost everything...I have an 80-200mm f/2.8 which is actually a little better "fit", but that gets heavy for general carry.

My current primary wildlife lens is a Sigma 300-800mm f/5.6...I don't recommend going this route for the average user...A crop body and a 500mm is a "better" choice for most.

My "most used" camera is my G10.....probably because it's the one I carry "just because".

I'm not a pro, and have only been shooting a little more than three years but I have to say the Canon 70-200 f/2.8 IS is my favorite lens to use. It's fast, sharp, solid, and is great to have in many situations.

My second favorite is the 24-105 F/4 IS for general all around stuff. I sold it and bought a 24-70 f/2.8. The 24-70 is great for portaiture, but I may have to buy the 24-105 again. I got spoiled with IS.

The 24-105 F/4 IS is beautiful when mixed with a full-frame. I can not get over how well it works in most situations!

Errr..I think you mean EF 16-35 f/2.8L II. The 17-35 is two versions back.

And if you're going to keep with the theme of superwides, Nikon fullframe'd be the legendary 14-24.

For me? Probably my 135L. But I'm not a pro, and I change my mind every week as to what my favorite lens is.

Yes I still do keep that very very old lens, the 17-35mm F2.8 constant aperture. I used it in film, and I find it likeable to digital too. It is not as sharp and contrasty as the newer versions, which I like to use on special photography like photomontage projects.
Cheers!

Not a pro, not even a good amateur at the moment but I would give up a lot for this..

Nikon | Telephoto AF-S Nikkor 600mm f/4G ED VR Autofocus | 2173

why? Cause its amazing and for wildlife I could maybe not have to climb a tree...
