Default What Would You Do? 124

I'm all out of submissions so I used one of my older images for you guys to play with. (hint, hint, I need more photos)

The rules are simple, edit the image anyway that you see fit and then post the steps you took to get to your final image.

This challenge is as much about learning as it is about sharing with others so that they may learn.
Now, let's see what you would do!

Default When the sun comes up, you'd better be running

3340230814_6527330167_o

Made a lasso mask around the lion and smoothed and feathered.
Made duplicate layer of "Standoff". Added lion from commons photographed by Yaaay, and matched colours.
Added Filter Render Lens Flare.
Added Filter Render Lighting Effects 2 O'Clock Spotlight around the lens flare to make it look like sunrise.
Added quote.

Quote:
Every morning in Africa, a Gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a Lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest Gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn't matter whether you are a Lion or a Gazelle... when the sun comes up, you'd better be running.*

♪ It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! ♪

Opened image, opened frozen pond image as layer, added layer mask to deer and masked unwanted portion and adjusted levels, copied each deer and pasted into a new transparent layer, rotated and flipped each deer to mirror itself, added a layer mask to upside down reindeer and did a linear blend to make a reflection of the deer, reduced reflection layer, added "clouds" in a new layer and reduced opacity, I think that's about it.

What Would You Do #124 2009-12-13
I was inspired by Naeno's beautiful frozen pond image to try something in the same vein.

In Paint Shop Pro:
  • Added a sky image layer from another picture and inverted it.
  • Duplicated the original image and inverted it.
  • Removed everything from the inverted image except the antelope.
  • Repositioned the antelope slightly to match the different viewing angle in the reflection.
  • Merged with the sky image.
  • Used Motion Blur and the Smudge tool to create some ripples in the water.
  • Moved the original image layer to the top, removed the bottom portion and darkened and feathered the edge to blend into the water.
  • Adjusted color and contrast on all the layers and merged.
