Is this HDR or not?

There's a lot of people out there using HDR for whatever they see. Quite a bit of it (in my humble opinion) is very over done.

I had a thought... How about a thread where we display a photo (or photos) and people have to decide if it's been produced using HDR or straight out of the camera.

I'll start it off with these two images. Which (if any) of these photos are HDR?

Both, are likely HDR images, if they aren't true HDR images that have been tone mapped certainly both have been tone mapped from a single JPG or RAW image.

Sounds like a thread for the games and challenges section (moved).

How are you defining HDR? I'd suggest something like "post-processed to avoid extremes of under- and over-exposure" and think that both of the above fall into that category.

Perhaps is this tone mapped would be more suitable. In order to properly display a true HDRI image on a normal desktop monitor it will need to be tone mapped.
