Default What Would You Do #137

Sorry I missed last weeks challenge. My images to post are rather slim. Thanks Athens_Orm for allowing me to snitch this one from his Flickr photostream.

The rules for the challenge are simple. You can edit this photo in any way you see fit. Change it into something different, add character sto it or enagnce it in anyway, all you need to do is tell us the steps you took to acheive the look you ended up with.

So with that being said: Let's see what you can do!!

Where is everyone???

All righty then, here's what I did. Changed the color and texture by using Niks Color Efex, Old photo. Next I used the warp tool on a duplicate layer to make the points int he hat more prominent and then ereased the areas around it that looked warped. Next i found a blue dragon and pasted it as a new layer and simply areas I needed to show thru

I have been playing with the dragon idea, but so far nothing to compare with that of windrider...maybe soon. Meanwhile

What Would You Do #137

For this image I wanted to reduce the distraction of the background and bring out a little more color beside blue.

In Paint Shop Pro:
  • Duplicated the original image on a new layer.
  • Cloned out the cable and reflections and applied Gaussian Blur.
  • Duplicated the original image on another layer and removed everything but the statue.
  • Duplicated the statue layer, Colorized it a bronze color, set the blend mode to Color, adjusted opacity and merged with the other statue layer.
  • Duplicated the merged statue layer, adjusted brightness and contrast, erased around the lamp, then merged the statue layers again.
  • Adjusted brightness/contrast and reduced saturation of the background layer.
  • Added a Levels adjustment layer to refine overall brightness/contrast, then merged the image.
  • Opened the merged image in Paint Shop Pro 8 and adjusted the color with the Gray World Color Balance tool.
  • Cropped the image, applied noise reduction, and sharpening.

bronze statue copy
selected the face, desaturated , then painted on another layer for the color, then added the eyeball. i copied the right bg and flipped it horizontally to erase the building facade.
from lightning photos, i selected the lightning using color range and dragged it to the statue photo. resized the lightning bolts and using layer style, outer glow, added the glow on the bolts. flattened and saved.

bronze statue copy 2
selected the left arm and put it in another layer.
with rubberstamp, i erasedt the original arm from the bg layer.with with the rubber stamp tool and with free transform, adjusted the arm and with layer mask, i blended the arm to the body. i used the same procedure for the other arm but i used the clone tool to draw the missing parts of the right arm using different source points.
got a picture of a broadsword and dragged to the photo. using free transform, adjusted the sword and with layer mask, blended the sword with the bg layer. flattened and saved.

What I did:
Used Curves to enhance lighting
Cut a piece of the original background and tiled it for a new background
Altered new background image with Oil Paint
Altered new background image with Cartoon
Extracted Object - statue
Placed object (statue) on new background
Used Sculpture-Silver and Sculpture-Iron to change color of statue
Added shadow to object (statue)
Merged all layers
Added Star Particle to lighted area
Sepia Tone with 50% original color
Used Edge Preset Frame to alter edges of image
Used gradient fill (black & gray) for base image behind frame
Merged all layers

what would you do #137

The better question is what did I NOT do. I only have access to Picnik premium. I raised the exposure and contrast, color boost. faded daguerotype, hdr, duo tone, neon, applied a texture, cropped the everloving mess out of it, framed it, texted it and made it a blog header for my blog. I think I'll save it for Halloween time.
