So very vibrant, I like it. I would have never thought to combine both with that angle and with that really nice contrast. Is it wrong to be jealous of such spot on color saturation? lol
Anger is a choice, happiness happens all on it's own.
    Cheers

Week of 10 October - My Neighbours

Week of 10 October - My Neighbours

        October 10 - My Neighbours

Meet one of the huge flock of cockatoos who live in the trees around my house.

It was a bit of a challenge getting this. The only place I could get close enough for a decently framed shot was in this shady spot where my neighbour has seed out. But this meant that, even with a high ISO, it was hard to keep the shutter speed high enough for a sharp shot.

I like how the cockatoo's personality comes through in this photo. They are great characters.

Week of 17 October - On the Shelf

Oct 17 - On the Shelf

A lonely little toy waiting for a new home at the local second hand centre. He is metaphorically, if not physcially on the shelf.

This cockerel was gracing the local community festival with his presence. His feathers were gorgeous and he knew it.

                    Week of 7 Nov - Wind - 6/53

                    Nov 7 - Wind

Okay so you have three days in which to take a photo of wind. What happens - three of the stilest days in living memory. Fortunately, the local agricultural show with its side show rides came to the rescue.

For this photo I used the autoserve function on my camera. I have not really used this function much before, so I was pleased with the results. Now I just have to learn to keep the camera still rather than trying follow after whatever is moving in front of the camera.

                      Week of 14 November - Music - 7/53

                      Nov 14 - Music - 7/53

This drummer was in a jazz band playing at an outdoor event. I felt very self conscious standing in front of the stage to take photos. I was worried people would start throwing things. But it was good discipline to have to think about what shot I wanted and then do it, rather than just mucking around until I got a shot I liked.

I would have liked to have gotten a bit more blur on the drumsticks. I was after a dynamic type of shot. But without a tripod, I was never going to be able to keep the rest of the shot sharp enough to make it work.

                        Week of 21 November - Gathering - 8/53

                        Nov 21 - Gathering - 8/53

This is my favourite scene to photograph, strong sunlight in the foreground with dark brooding storm clouds gathering in the background. So wonderfully dramatic.

Although in this case, I think that the grass in the foreground has blown out a little bit.

                          Week of 28 November - Beyond Reach - 9/53

                          Nov 28 - Beyond Reach - 9/53

This was a hard one. I think this sculpture from the National Art Gallery captures the theme. They are forever stranded in the middle of a pond, beyond the reach of everyone except goldfish. Ok its a stretch but it's a great sculpture.

The issue with this photo was to get a good composition, rather than any technical challenge.
