  • Night Time Fountain

Hello everyone, I'm kind of new here, first post but have been trolling the instructional parts for a little bit. Constructive criticism is always welcome especially on composition, settings, etc., as I just picked up a new to me DSLR, and can finally learn photography the way I've wanted too.

This is the image from the camera:

    Here is the edited picture:

    balboa park fountain 2

This is my first time using Photoshop (Elements 11). All I did was adjust the white balance, sharpen slightly, and use the healing brush to remove unwanted light sources.

This shot was handheld and using the 18-55mm kit lens

    EXIF data:
    Camera: Pentax K20D
    F-stop: f/4
    Exposure time: 1/3 sec.
    ISO: 200
    Exposure bias: +1 step
    Focal Length: 28mm

I like how you fixed the excessive light in the edited picture. It makes the fountain look really pure and the picture sharp. An A in my book.

                              Hi Dokdirt,

You have definitely improved the pic with your editing. If you wanted to get really clever you might try to balance up the left and right sides of the fountain to make it perfectly symmetrical...

I think I might be tempted to remove the bright yellow lights in the middle as well, the same way you have done with the blue ones....
