  • DIY Dual Flash Bracket

    I decided to try to make a dual flash bracket because i want to be able to get the same output as dual pops in a 1/2 pop so the recycle time is quicker. Also if I need it I can have even more light. All you do is get a strip of aluminum strip cut and drill holes then buy a 1/4 wing nut, and 2x 1/4 wing bolts and some washers and your good to go. I will post specifics later.

    I need to get a second trigger because my cactus v4 hot shoe does not work without something wedged under the flash. I don't want to have to jerry rig it all the time.

      THe only issues I have are that the flashes are different and arent pointing at the right place: they should be aimed at the center of the umbrella. If you're setting the SB600 to 1/2 power, you have to set the SB900 to 1/4 because its more powerful.

        The one on the right is pointing up because it wasn't locked down because of the lack of a washer.

            Ya I need to buy either another receiver or a pc mono plug splitter and another mono to pc splitter and another cold shoe mount so I can fire off the 2 pc ports.. So its kinda jerry rigged.

              Test 2 with the other bracket. and a splitter. Used the screw thread of the trigger where the nut normally is and it is more stable..

                Nicely done, i've been busy jerry rigging too- Do you have any closeups that show how the flashes are mounted? I've been trying to find mounting brackets to put mics on half a dozen cameras using the shoe, since i can't find them anywhere for a reasonable price (who wants to pay $30 for a twenty five cent piece of metal) i thought i'd try to DIY, but i can't find these parts anywhere.

                  Is there a formula for this or would this have to be estimated in trial and error?

                    Not exactly do it yourself..... but I came up with this today....


                    Using SB900 on camera as fill and commander for 2xSB600 and 1 SB900
